Has anyone heard of Michel Thomas? I want to learn a new European language. MT has introduced a new way of learning a language that means you can relax while learning, and you don't have to try to remember anything.
Has anyone used his methods? How do they compare to other methods of learning a language?

I've not used his material myself but we're using his 8 hour French course at school for the year 10 and 11 students who aren't doing GCSE French. They seem to have taken to it quite well.

Is that like unconscious learning? (a la Brave New World) I put all my science revision/ history on tapes and played them whilst asleep, that seemed to work.

MT hasn't really let on what his secret is. He was interrogated and tortured during the war and apparently discovered the key then.
You are awake when listening to the tapes.
