Does 'Carousel' count, seeing as how Billy Bigelow's dead when the movie begins and then tells the story in flashback?

Would Achilles count in The Iliad, even though he doesn't actually die when it ends, cos you know he's going to?

Love Story.
(actually, I've never seen it, but I gather the bird gets it. In fact, I think that's the whole point of the film. But I've never seen it. Never. Not once. No no no no no. Wouldn't countenance it. That Ryan O'Neal chap was quite nice though...)

Stephen Blackpool the man of conscience and hero of the novel falls down a hole and dies. Not right at the end though so.........
