Well, fire fighting perhaps. Seems that in most places the female fire fighters have their test standards lowered to get them through. But that is mostly the physical fitness part. Not met that many women who would make good engineers either.

There are few 'male' jobs that women *cannot* do, but there are some that men are better at. Mostly this is for reasons like physical strength; firefighters have been mentioned and I'd add dustmen in areas where they don't use wheely-bins. And although women can make good soldiers, I'd rather have my country defended by blokes. Their testosterone makes them better at anything requiring aggression. Of course, if the women could be given permanent PMS... smiley - winkeye

Also men make better soldiers because, biologically speaking, they are more expendable.

Not quite sure how to take this question. Is it a serious survey, or a joke question, or just looking for career suggestions?

As far as I know, women are not allowed to join the Swiss Guard, which guards the Vatican, nor, come to think of it, has the Catholic Church allowed any women to become priests. I don't think that in the Moslem world women are taken on as spiritual leaders either. Not that they couldn't do any of those jobs, but they wouldn't be eligible to do it.

On the other hand, aren't there lots of jobs that are only done by women, which men could do just as well. (No doubt they'd get paid better, too.)

When regulations first came out about job advertising not being sex-specific, one firm is reputed to have got round it by advertising for help on their building site, requiring that "Applicants must be prepared to work stripped to the waist".

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring )

Not that this will always be the case, but jobs that require reaching up high as men tend to be taller.
I happend to watch a film of people leaving a factory the other day, and the men were mainly taller, there will always be exceptions of course, and those wheelly step up things in Sainsbury's, lol.

There is no reason at all why women cannot be firefighters - there is a clue in the job title there actually, there are so many women doing this job that a gender-non-specific title needed to be developed.

I love that the women in the audience are actually attempting to put a serious slant on the question while the men are doing willy jokes smiley - smiley
I think Trillians Child got the nail, there are many jobs women arent eligible to do whether they can do it or not, but I did think of one which only the most extreme woman could even try to do.
Sofa/mattress tester. The majority of women simply cannot vegetate like a man can, theres always something that catches their eye. Also apparantly the ability for a man to be able to sit still for hours is an evolutionary thing, throwing back to the days when we had to stalk our lunch.

As it happens, I cook the tea most nights, do almost all the cleaning, do all my own sewing and darning (blasted socks), and regularly make sure my iccle nephew doesnt stick his fingers in the plug socket. Also, I lift weights and put up shelves and can program the video.
All I can say is that I really need a good woman, just like my mother keeps insisting smiley - smiley

This thread is almost duty-bound to degenerate into humour, the initial question indubitably is intended to provoke a reaction.

Of course there is no job that a woman cannot do.

However, there are jobs from which they are debarred and there are jobs which they "should" not do.

Women should not be firefighters - fudging entry qualifications and physical tests degrades the overall ability of the fire services.

Women should not be front line combatants in any arm of the military.

How do women justify positive discrimination?

How can anyone take "Blair's Babe's" seriously, knowing they did not reach their position through ability but through a quota system?

However, please carry on with the humour - it's funny seeing the girlies fume smiley - tongueincheeksmiley - run
