Star Trek Question
Ballynac Started conversation Jan 15, 2003
I watched Star Trek Nemesis last night and noticed something about Star Trek I hadn't noticed before. When did the Earth, Humans and Starfleet become the centre of the Federation? Until recently I was always under the impression that Earth was just one part of the United Federation of Planets. But in Nemesis, Earth is clearly labelled as being the centre of it. Picard even refers to the terran system as the heart of the federation and says if the bad guys destroy humans they will cripple the entire federation.
Did I just not pick up on this before or have the writers changed tack a little bit?
BTW - cracking film though. One of the best Star Treks yet with loads of action.

Er... I think it always has been. After all, it is in sector zero, isn't it?
Or something. Definitely some zeros in there.
Incidentally, there's a fairly amusing star trek episode made entirely by fans that you can download...

True to the original series, obviously

Sector 001, but it's called that now anyway, just an easy way to caterloge 3D space, without resorting to speed measurements!!!

More importantly, since when were the Romulans honourable? Or was that Warf extracting the urine? Until later....

I think that when they were faced with the personification of their own corruption, they came good and fought with honour for the greater good.

Wasn't it Star Trek - The search for Whales where San Fransisco became HQ? I think they chose SF because everyone can recognize the Golden Gate. In the original series the HQ was always very vague.

I think Paris is the home of the Federation, while San Fransico is the home of Starfleet command!!!

Well maybe he's lord of the admirality, like Churchill during WWII, leader of the Federation & Lord of the admirality!!!

Surely not, I mean, you've got a shedload of Admirals in Starfleet Command for that....
I'm sure the President is a civilian role.

If the person who wrote Star Trek was English the HQ would be in London. If they were French it would be in Paris -n`est pas?
So, San Fran, USA, Earth. Makes no sense but.....who`s there to argue?

Ok so it's San Francisco.
Another question, in Nemesis, what was Wesley Crusher doing there. I thought he was off gallivanting around the universe with "the traveller".
