The National Health Service (NHS) is health care for everybody in the UK. The NHS is paid for by the tax we pay.
It pays for visits to the doctors and any hospital treatment whether its brain surgery or an ingrowing toenail. If you are presribied drugs you have to £4.50 towards the cost of the drugs.
Dental work is subsidized by the NHS also,
If you are unemployed or pregnant dental work is totaly free.
Precriptions for drugs are also free if you are unemployed but I'm not sure if pregnant ladys still have to pay the £4.50

Eye tests are also free if your eye-sight is worse than a certain amount. (That doesn't sound right, but I don't know how else to put it.) I know about this because my eye-sight falls into this category.
Side-tracking slightly, why do we use the word 'eye-sight'? Why not just 'sight'? OK, there's foresight, hindsight and second sight, but it should be fairly obvious that we're talking about the use of our eyes in a conversation like this (or most others where sight is discussed).

Sorry, I thought you might still have been around when I typed it. I've been trying to find someone to talk live to
on the site and you were the the only one who had been around recently. I was just trying to provoke a response.
Neat/weird name by the way.

Well, aside from the fact that the spelling is wrong ...
Then, of course, there's Site of Special Scientific Interest (or there used to be. I wonder what happened to them. Have they all been ploughed up / 'developed'?)
