This is tragic, it really is.

It makes me wonder why I engage with such frivolities as Death Lists when we lose amazing people such as this.

Oo, no smiley - erm I half-heard the story on the radio, travelling home, but completely missed the name - so I just found out by reading this now.

A very funny woman - her and Jeremy Hardy on the News Quiz used to be my favourite pairing.

Very sad.

smiley - sadface Sad indeed, a work colleague of mine's mother has just been given 1-6 months to live with incurable liver cancer. She is also 48 - too young.

I didn't even know she was ill.smiley - sadface

I loved to hear her on News Quiz, Just a Minute and ISIHAC. I'm glad that Jeremy Hardy wrote the obituary. It seeems a bit more fitting that way.

Linda Smith was President of the British Humanist Association.

She will be missed by everyone who has had the good fortune the hear her speak.

For those of you who missed the very moving (and very funny) News Quiz tribute to Linda Smith yesterday, you can listen again here:

Truly it was often hard to know whether to laugh or cry, so did a bit of both . . .

Our favourite radio comedians never really die. There are always repeats, or CDs - you can listen to Willie Rushton or Peter Jones, for example, any time you like.

I'm not really sure whether that's good or bad.
