I don't mind a lot of christmas songs, esp the 70's glam lot - but what really irks me are the shops that show up in town a month beforehand, bludgeoning us with the usual plastic ephemeral tat; but with a 100W subwoofer positioned at the door, playing these tunes around the clock at full blast - hellish for passers-by, not to mention of course the poor sods who have to work in the vicinity.

"ITS CHRISTMAS!! HAVEN'T YOU HEARD?? CHRISTMAS - COME ON!! FXXXING CHRISTMASSSS!!!!"

I get shirty in all shops which play music too loud, if there is loud music I just lose the ability to hear voices clearly so end up shouting "WHAT" at everyone. Plus it seems built in to me that if I have to shout I automatically start to feel angry.

I cut the wires to the speakers in WHSmith once because the speaker was blasting into my ear while I was queueing, I'll usually jsut find the cd player and turn the volume down, its nice in the background but not that loud. And to be honest even shops with subtle background music are discriminating aginst deaf people unless they have proper induction loops fitted.

Oh, I have a new favorite hate object in terms of Christmas-annoying. I do not know who sang it. The dinger is a male, and it goes something like

"Simply having a wonderful Christmas time..." It has really bad synthesizer sounds in it. And when the singer tries to impress us by showing how low his voice can go at this one point... it just gives me the creeps!

Yes, that Paul McCartney. I guarantee absolutely anything you listen to by the Beatles is better than that, although, to be fair, it's not as bad as "We All Stand Together".

My sister had the new kids on the block christmas album , nothing particularly great about that...except the lyric sheet...it contained all the ooohs and aahhhhs written down (Sii-lent night oh yeah, ho-ooooh-ly night aahhhh)...I wish she still had that, we used to rip her to shreds every year about that
