"Grocer Jack" ??!!

True, those nauseating irish arsewipes managed to remove all felling, meaning and quality from that song and turn it into bland boyband shite, didn't they? I mean, how can that bunch of sing a song about dying with those stupid f*cking grins on their faces. Tw*ts.

It didn't half brighten up Christmas 1999 though, it being the festive number one.
Sorry, I was having a bad time that Christmas.

And what is christmas without the turky, a turkeyless christmas, that's what, and combindign the two in a seasonal way with chair legs and prunes produces as we all know, seasons in the sun, the delightful tune that haunts all our gazing hours at the kitchen window overlooking the plans of our cruel realities on afternoon sunday's, when the lazy trowl of the knarled creature does turn the earth and the tune that plays so melodically looses tone with the fall of each leave, and still I whistle as the night bore down and listen to the tune as if an adorning crown, stiffling the massive and rifling teh fall, leafless trees near the wall

Y'know, I thought that the words in that link in post didn't look quite right. These are the lyrics I remember:

Ah,that missing verse makes more sense. I'm sorry for causing people to have this tune going around in their heads. I think because it's a childhood song, it sticks in the memory more.
It would be awful if someone mentioned another kiddie song, one that if you saw the words, would go around and around and around all day.

Has been innoculated against such drivel by having listened to the new Johnny Cash album this morning on the train.

Anyone else in this thread recall seeing Keith West and a bunch of kids performing this on TOTP?
And when Johnny Cash got around to singing 'We'll Meet Again', did it feel to you like he was saying "Goodbye, this is probably the last album I'll ever make" BS?

The whole album feels like that.
Which is sad, but on the other hand, what an absolutely magnificent way to go out, if that's what it is. for one of the great American originals.

The Cash album is fantastic- not quite as good as the last one but hey, can't expect miracles. Don't think personal jesus was depeche mode but I may be wrong, he does have a Nine Inch Nails cover on the album so anything's possible.
Oh, and A871904 by the way.

Well, he has also covered Dinosaur Jnr in the past (Rusty Cage), and Danzig (13). I think Rick Rubin is a good song spotter is the case, to be honest.
I think it's the best of the four albums, to be honest. That spoken intro/outro to 'When the Man Comes Around' sends shivers down my spine.
Key: Complain about this post
