There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

I don't care to blow my own trumpet, but it was me who blagged Jims into including the FM on that list smiley - blush

Sho, sounds like you had an experience similar to mine. I seemed to only ever see elvis entries with suggested moves to FM in PR - beacuse I tended to log in and look just after one of the scouts had been in for a bit of a spring clean. It looked like the whole first LED was entries being removed from PR. Can be very off-putting when everything you open is like that!

I had to change my PR reviewing style - which used to be to read the entry first, then read the PR thread and add any new comments. I don't tend to go in for the detailed spelling and grammar check style of review so this was working quite well until I realised how much time I was wasting reading stuff that was about to get moved out. I now skim the PR thread first to see if it is worth opening the entry.

It seems to me, my dear chap/chapess (delete as appropriate), that there are plenty of new entries in Peer Review. In the last week there were 24 entries submitted. That's more than enough to provide for the three new ones each day on Monday to Friday.

And not one of them appears to be Elvis.

I think we've already cleared why it can appear in the way Sho and Kelli mentioned. Kelli, if you look at the entries and click on the 'Date Entered' link above the entries, you'll see the latest entries submitted. ( Shankyrich told us that you can do this on another thread). But maybe you don't want to do this just now, because the servers are too busy smiley - erm
Oh, and I've had a look at the 'upcoming' page , it's full of entries smiley - bigeyes

It is kind of unfortunate that when Scouts are having a cleanout, the top postings in PR are all unsuitable and Elvised entries. I can't see any way around it though apart from Scouts taking care of PR cleaning entirely on the Scouts Yahoo group, which would be utterly impractical.

Another unfortunate side effect is that if a Scout has gone into OCD mode and swept through PR like a dose of salts, the MP page of everyone subbed to PR will be full of old entry threads with 'Shall we move this?', 'Seconded' posts, elbowing everything else out of the way. Maybe there's a case for Scouts limiting our cleaning activities to, say, ten entries at a time, once or twice a week, as necessary, instead of letting it slide for ages and then going to town on it.

I'm not so keen on limiting scouts activity. Skankyrich (is that the right way to spell it?) was obviously on a roll yesterday, and we shouldn't discourage things like that - s/he was obviously performing a useful job, because some of those entries had been around for yonks with no obvious work on them.

Knowing that there is an easier way to sort the PR list has helped.

well, all of us have to work h2g2 round our RL activities...
at the time I posted this thread, however, PR was being tidied, and the entries with the most recent postings were scouts sending entries to the FM

it's not a criticism, just an observation

How many PR entries get amended as suggested in the PR thread, but then get left mouldering? Or are they all picked eventually? Is it feasible to have some automatic relocation of entries with untouched PR threads?

When visiting the PR page it's easy to see which are relatively new entries & which have been around for a while, but would it be possible to flag up in a different way those which are suspected as Elvis authors?

basically, the Elvised entries get put into the FM unless they are of a standard that can be picked.

if you go to A9741972 we've got The Nearly but Not Quite 'Official' Peer Review Discussion Forum going, which can answer all your PR questions
