I'm still in the green shorts and white t-shirt, but then all I've done is sleep since my last post here.
Am I correct that what the English call a "jumper" is what Americans call a "sweater" - a wool or otherwise warm pullover top, worn over a blouse or shirt? Or if it buttons in front, it'd be a "Cardigan sweater"? Distinguished from a "sweatshirt" because it's nicer, and not for exercising in?
Also, someone commented that British and American usage differ on the word "shorts". How's that? By "shorts", I mean casual trouser/pant type things that end anywhere above the knee, usually worn during the summer, or on holiday, or by schoolboys, or by Daisy Duke of the Dukes of Hazard.

Yep- jumper, or pullover, tho' sweater would probably be understood. WIth buttons- cardigan or cardie, not to be worn by anybody under sixty under any circumstances.
That sounds fair enough for shorts to me GTB, the only other usage I know of is filler films Oh, except that one can get very smart shorts...
