smiley - hug for all of you having a bad day...

so here comes mine:

drove from my girlfriends house back home to mine this morning, through pouring rain on a Vespa. Got soaked allover, did not have the time to shower and rushed to work. After I arrived in the parking lot, I found a dent on my new BMW that wasn´t there yesterday. Got yelled at by my boss for not doing his job properly while he surfed the internet. Got yelled at again because I surfed h2g2 and did not do my job properly. Got yelled at by customers and my employees who will be receiving their payment two days later than normal because of a computer break-down. Spilled coffee over my desk. And to finish it my working day started at 5:30 this morning and is gonna last for another 3 hours. and I have to listen to my fellow employee, who is constantly complaining about her falling in love with a animateur of a holiday-club in spain.

so tonight is going to be full of:

smiley - hugsmiley - alesmiley - cakesmiley - choc

Ooops, no smiley - hug my girlfriend has to work all night...

Yes. Our roof is leaking (and has been for a while), the insurance says it is unlikely they will pay for it, the cheapest quote we have to fix it is £3000. We have phoned 10+ slaters and roofers, only 4 bothered themselves to come round, only two of those have bothered with quotes, the fastest that they can come round and sort it is at least a month. My home PC needs fixing, looks like a new m/b needed, and to top it all Farscape has been cancelled and none of the faxes I have sent to register my disgust has made it through smiley - sadface Well, on the brightside it is almost hometime smiley - smiley Until later....

ok, sorry,

what happened this afternoon:

we got a new computer on the referance desk. this computer, not only is it a load of old stuff from different machines in another machines box, not only is it in the wrong place, not only does it only work with one password which two other machines also only work with and is the same password as a memeber of staffs pricate account....but the best this is.......and this relly takes the biscuit......it's 'runnng' netscape 4.7.

which even the computer knows is wrong. it keeps offereing me free upgrades to netscape 6, 7, and IE.

a girl called Ben

Blimey - no wonder we are all shooting from the hip.

Hands up everyone who has somewhere to sleep tomorrow night?

Is that everyone?

Lucky buggers!

Ok - here goes.

I live in a flat which is about to be refurbished. Which means I have to move everything out of it: lock, stock and carpet-tiles.

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow at 08.30 am two big blokes with a dirty great van are going to turn up and shove everything I own into their dirty great van and put it into storage for about 6 weeks.

Nothing wrong with that, you say. And you are right.

Now I am an IT contractor, and I work in Europe. A former colleague has asked me to go and work on a project with him in Sweden. He was very arsy about the fact that I could not start at the beginning of September. Anyway, I eventually get this phonecall at 16.00 yesterday saying 'get your ass on over here gal, Thunderbirds are 'Go' - we are just waiting on a signature from HR... there is a major meeting with the big cheeses tomorrow and they know you are one of the key players'.

So I organise a flight for this evening, assume that I can catch a train at the other end, take him at his word that he has booked a hotel, and go to bed. This morning I wash my sheets ready to go into storage, wash some clothes, finish packing up the flat for the removal men, pack up a huge suitcase for Sweden, (hell, I buy a huge suitcase for Sweden), get my fringe cut, and sit around waiting for the confirmation phone-call.

And sit around waiting for the confirmation phone-call.

And sit around waiting for the confirmation phone-call.

At 11.00am I phone them and say 'I have to know by mid-day or I cannot come'. 'Don't be like that' he says. 'No you don't understand. If I don't know by mid-day, I cannot catch the flight'. 'Ah'. He says, and disappears off into the hinterland to try to get the appropriate signature.

I then give him a 16.30 dead-line for a 06.45 am flight tomorrow which will get me to the office by lunch-time in time to be an ultra-professional key player in front of the big cheeses tomorrow, and resign myself to sleeping on a bare mattress.

He misses that deadline too. Well, the Client's HR department miss the deadline.

He then asks will I come out anyway. 'Sure' I say, 'how confident are you? I will do it at your risk'. At which point he coughs and splutters which tells me everything I need to know.

So, I have given him another 12.00 noon deadline for tomorrow, and if that comes off I will be watching CNN in a seedy hotel in Sweden tomorrow night.

If it doesn't......

Hey - at least I am not pregnant and called Mary.
