South Park went too far when...
Mu Beta Posted Aug 31, 2002
I *still* can't believe no-one else has heard Mr. Garrison's Christmas song. It is _by far_ the most offensive thing ever on South Park, and literally stunned a group of drunk male undergraduates into shocked silence.
Let's say, if you're Muslim, Hindu, or Shintoist, it ain't a sympathetic song.

I've not heard it. I don't think I want to... maybe that's when they went too far.

It's a bit difficult for me to discuss this thread, because in Germany they decided to translate everything (in a very .... way) - I would have preferred subtitles... but anyway...
I still love it for not being pc, because I know so many people trying to be pc,,,
For example: I'm handicapped myself - and at moments I start to make jokes about *has to shout* MY VERY OWN HANDICAP* they tell me that this is unbelievable, you shouldn't do this....
Aaaaargh.... People being too nice is not exactly what I can cope with...

You should certainly be allowed to make jokes about your own handicap if you want.

I think jokes about disability, race, sexuality or nationality fall into pretty much the same category as jokes about your mother.
Sure, it's fine for YOU to make jokes about your mum, but if anyone else tries it....

I wouldn't know, as I've rarely seen anything advertised which interested me less.

As a Canadian I know lots of people here who were offended by "Blame Canada" but just as many who thought it was funny. If Canada had produced it I am sure we would have taken great pride in it as a nation (like the Hosers or Red Green). I recently attended a Sikh wedding reception where the (East Indian) comedian told nothing but ethinic jokes about East Indians to a 99% East Indian crowd (what do you call your E.I. butler- Mahatma Coat). As a Caucasian I couldn't get away with that in any crowd. It's all perspective.
