Mark, Mark, to wherever thee depart,
Take with you, a little piece of my heart.
Know that we love you, our dear editor-in-chief,
And that it is our wish and strong belief,
That you enjoy your fresh start.

Mark Moxon - Voyager Extraordinaire
Only once have I met you,
And that in the park,
At the famous Summer Meet,
Before it got dark.
You walked by our side
To the throbbing melee,
O Researchers, Gurus and Aces
All jostling and gele,
When I bade you farewell
I wondered why you,
A young man about town
Was going so far.
I did not,
For an instant,
Realise that
by chance.
I'd been welcomed that Saturday
By the Lord of the Dance.
Bonne chance, mon ami,
Dans tes voyages en Afrique,
Je te souhaite bonne sante
A bientot. A bientot
Translation
Good luck, my friend,
For your travels in Africa.
I wish you good fortune.
Till we meet. Till we meet.

*grows big bushy beard and banging bongoes*
(Note - that isn't a euphamism)
I saw the best editors of h2g2 depart,
To Mozambique! Ethiopia! Morrocco!
Tearing through the dusty Sahara at dawn,
Looking for a travelling fix.
Who guided h2g2 from the digital village to the servers of the man*,
Who moderated six posts successively successfully, upsetting many,
Who talked nonsense with researchers until the dawn light, contemplating Nick Drake,
(followed by lots and lots of lines starting with 'Who...')
Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy!
h2g2 is Holy! The researchers are Holy! The Editors are Holy! Travelling is Holy! Lots of other stuff is Holy! # is Holy!
And so on. Apologies to Allen Ginsberg...
*ie, the BBC.
#This will result in a lengthy obscenity trial, I'm afraid.

Looking through, some of these are quite good. Maybe we could vote on the best ones (whe everyone's finished, and bung them on an entry?)

There was an Italic called Mark,
Who did his best work in the dark.
He'd vanquish the nasty,
Then nip out for a pasty
At the Texaco down by Hyde Park.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
