Shirt Button Holes

Here's a question for the guild of seamstresses:

How much would it cost for 2 of your girls to^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H

I mean:

I wear shirt and tie for work everyday - just the shirt and tie, a little cold in winter but I appreciated to fresh air in summer. Ok, back to the point. All my shirts are double cuff city cut. The button holes down the middle of the sirts are on the vertical plane - all except the last button hole which is horizontal. Why is this so?

Liam <- at work on a Saturday - hence wasting time in h2g2.

I guess its something to do with not having the button hole bursting open as you move your neck around, what with this hole being tightest to the skin.

Oh, and could you put some trousers on please smiley - yikes

It's the button hole nearest to where my trousers would be - if I had any on.

Liam.

That's odd, my horizontal buttons tend to be both top and bottom.

Maybe again to not burst open, some people have a beer belly there. But I think mine are all turning vertical.

I've sewn a buttonhole or two in my time, and although I've always assumed it was because the least button on a shirt is the one most likely to ge pulled, I can't honestly say that it makes sense from a sewing point of view. What usually happens is that the *button* gets pulled and the fabric next to it rips, rather than the buttonhole.

The modern man's shirt and tie is an entirely incongrous set-up created by a bizarre piece of costume evolution - does any of it actually make sense I ask you? No - ties are pointless, shirts are silly, and who needs the ironing - Men of the work - cast off your shirts and go topless to work! smiley - bigeyes

Ties are not pointless - quite the opposite. The point to a mans cock, and say "look at how important i am".

Surely if your tackle is that good, or that prominent, you don't need to advertise?
