What are you up to this weekend?
Mother of God, Empress of the Universe Posted Jun 20, 2002
I'll be working Saturday. Sunday will start with yoga class and brunch with a friend, then depending on the weather I'll do some gardening and bike to the beach or work on my painting and laze around reading. Most likely I'll end up having cocktails and dinner by the beach and watching the sun set.

I'm in the mood to do something summery, but as the forecast isn't particularly sunny or warm for the UK South coast, I expect I shall end up doing odd jobs around the house and garden.
There again, we may just go to West Wittering or Brighton regardless

I'm going fishing followed by some/lots of sleeping, spa-bathing and interspersed randomly with bouts of gluttony...
and for those unfamiliar with The Meaning of Liff (by Douglas Adams and John Lloyd)
WEST WITTERING (participial vb.)
The uncontrollable twitching which breaks out when you're trying to get away from the most borig person at a party.
EAST WITTERING (n.)
The same as west wittering (q.v.) only it's you they've trying to get away from.

Small world, I used to run a pub a couple of miles from East and West Wittering on the Chichester road, nice corner of the world it was too, apart from the silly place names

We go down to Chichester occasionally, when we feel the urge to get lost on a ring road
It still is nice corner of the world and it's high time we visited Fishbourne Roman Villa again. Perhaps if the weather doesn't decide to ignore the Met Office again we could do that instead of the sea.

Just trying to remember what the name of the reconstruction of a medieval (sorry about the spelling) town and farm is just north of Chichester, that's definately worth a day out if the weather's nice.

Hello
not sure what you mean here: I'm from Chichester and still work here! Are you thinking of Bignor Roman villa, Butser Ancient farm or neither?
Anyhoo, its a v. nice part of the world here. The Witterings are really lovely beaches but I still wouldn't swim there now. For really silly place names, see Crouchers Bottom (off the Apuldram road), Balls Cross and Burpham....

Luckystar, there is a Burpham here in Guildford too!
Bignor is in a beautiful spot, I can see why that site was chosen to settle on.

Kaz, I'm hopeless at remembering the names of restaurants! However the last time we went was to a veggie one that did wonderful rosties, it was on the seafront end of the Lanes.
If we go again this weekend I will take a note of where we go, I have written down the ones you gave.
