Why no replies?! I thought it was pretty self-evident what it entails and is also darn fun to do.
this is shameful, even for me

Yes - but a lot of work and we're terribly lazy!

Things that are rather good:
Friendly dogs, Gang of Four, Fugazi, Rage Against the Machine, Charlie Brooker, Paul Rose, Chris Morris, Tramps, Noam Chomsky, Nintendo, the Bournemouth Media School, drumming until it hurts, little egg shakers, Fugazi’s album The Argument featuring two drummers, being sent free CDs, not having to pay various taxes yet, Brass Eye, The Day Today, On The Hour, Father Ted, The Presidents of The United States of America, MP3s, Trillian (the IMer), The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in its many forms, Public Service television, Ask2g2, people with imagination, people that won’t follow the crowd, independent music stores, DIY musicians, independent ANYTHING, the original release of God Save the Queen (Sex Pistols), people that don’t drink and still have a great time, the collected works of Ian MacKaye, going to a new place and making new friends, George Orwell, Pokey the Penguin, the redevelopment of Basingstoke town centre, the Classic Goo Skin, talking in the third person, Marmite, Godspeed You Black Emperor’s live shows, The h2g2 Post’s fantastic cartoonists, being horribly opinionated, saying ‘horribly’ a lot, Neighbours, realising that I do actually like quite a lot of things – enough to get everyone REALLY bored, knowing when to stop, and actually having enough free time to write big lists. And footnotes. Pity we can't put them in conversation postings...
Things That Get My Goat (this may take a while):
The Daily Mail, people who get their opinions from the Daily Mail, rightwing types, George W Bush and his government, the Labour Party, The Conservative Party, capitalism, multinational corporations, self-interest, pop music, pop-punk and pretty much anything preceded with the word ‘pop’, commercial television, being ignored, people that think their looks make them superior to others and so only talk to other people with equally ‘good looks’, horses that look at me funny when I walk the dog, big record labels, bigots, xenophobes/racists/homophobes/sexists/etc (see Daily Mail...), people who always insist they’re right about things they don’t actually KNOW (see: all sides of religious debates), Basingstoke town centre, my own hypocrisy, Starbucks (comes under ‘multinational’ I know but so bad it deserves its own mention), consumerism, Public Relations, ‘talking heads’ on List programmes (“good thing their aren’t any here” says that Stuart guy), punk sellouts, the rise of nu-metal and all its identikit followers, little metal scooters, hating too much, people that think violence is the solution to everything/anything, mobile phone pricing systems, mobile phone shops, mobile phone salespeople, ALL salespeople in shops, people that shout instead of listening, apathy, being told not to look into things so deeply, being told to stop being silly, pop-up adverts, my own laziness, the fact that the weather’s not too good right now, being hungry, the opinion that alcohol is the best thing ever and that it is required to socialise, and finding it hard to stop listing everything that Gets My Goat.
Believe me I could go on in both lists. But I don't want anyone to get a headache...
this is shameful, even for me

Blummin' 'eck! What did translucent people ever do to you?
Here's mine. What are yours?
Amy: ear-deep in novels, poetics, and historical documents. Posted Jun 6, 2002
Hmm... I thought I took that out cause it's something of an inside joke between myself and some friends...
Transluscent people are neither see through (transparent, meaning that you can see right through them metaphorically and not in the normal "see through them" way), nor solid (opaque, hard to get to know, hard to understand). I suppose a better description would be the Biblical "lukewarm."

Well, I've had a few changed of the mind since I wrote that. Much to do with going back to school (dislike) and seeing my friends (like) again and now having a decent politics teacher (like)

DoctorGonzo Posted Jun 12, 2002
Hrm, okay...
I like, in no particular order, and certainly incomplete:
The words 'crikey' and 'blimey', India Pale Ale, Bands belonging to the Elephant Six Collective, The Dean Gallery and Modern Art Gallery in Edinburgh, independent cinema, chinese and mexican food, the feeling outside after a very heavy rainstorm, turn-based strategy computer games, Jack Kerouac, the smell of incense, socialism, a well-turned phrase, winning pub quizzes, shouting at Question Time, 'Crying at the Discotheque' by Alcazar and lots of other things
I do not like, and with the above conditions:
People who take ages in front of me at cash machines, mobile phone ringtones (except mine), people who are rude to waiters and the like, nightclubs, indian food (it's an allergy thing), writer's block, lecturers who make an interesting subject boring, the vast majority of hollywood blockbusters, 1960's concrete buildings, unnecessarily long application forms, and others too many to mention...
Here's mine. What are yours?
