your parents are not legally garuantors

(the parental contact info is so some moron in glasgow can harass them every 6 mths - my dad tells them i'm dead)

being a garuantor involves the g signing something agreeing to be a g, which is not the case on s loans

i owe them the price of a small house (all spent carousing) but if they think they're getting any of it back...

Will people stop saying how bad it is paying off a huge loan. I'm only in my first year of uni, i've got three more years of debt to build up yet. Hasn't anyone got anything good to say, like how they finished uni got a great job that involved testing beds by sleeping in them and their first weeks pay was four times their loan debt?

Come on people, your starting to panic me!

What if life isn't always this easy and worry free? What'll i do!
smiley - sadface

my husband deferred payments for 4 years, I deferred for 3! Its no problem if you're earning less than their recommended amount. I have opted to start paying mine off this year but you can increas/decrease the monthly amounts to increase/decrease the term (and the amount) of the payback if you see what I mean. Its not too bad and the company are reasonable to deal with - that said my debts are small coz I had a grant......fear not! Many people share your situation,

L

Sounds like nonsense to me, can't see the govt reintroducing grants, and if they do I want a rebate for my paid off loans and compensation for my struggle to stay solvent on no income!

It has the look of those 'email everyone you know and microsoft will send you $5 per person' messages.

I wouldn't rely on this in your financial planning!

Trouble is there ar three times the number of students as there were about 10 years ago. Funding grants for all of them is now almost totally unfeasable without a major tax hike. smiley - erm

Great Western Lettuce (no.51) Just cut down the fags instead

The other thing with the petition is that the last thing people want to be doing is saying 'If you re-introduce grants, you'd better cough up even more money for those who missed out.'
At least wait until the grants are re-introduced before kicking up a fuss.

Are there honestly any plans to reintroduce grants given that student numbers are higher than ever? I really think this is a wind-up.

Would definitely not be happy with a tax hike to pay for that, given that I had next to no government support when I was a student!
