Aaaargh! I didn't know he hadn't signed for the next series! I guess it is fairly inevitable what will happen then. Oh well, serves me right for bringing it up...
Gosh, they really are unlucky aren't they?

I spend an average of four weeks a year in England. In the house are three TV sets. I do not pay my licence. The totally wonderful Duncan pays it for me - in addition to his Irish licence

I've been lucky so far in that wherever I've lived there was still a licence there. I don't mind paying for one, which I will inevitably have to do one day, because when you think about it, the BBC is a non-profit making organisation and is a public institution. Why have adverts when you can pay £100 a year for uninterrupted programming? And which do you watch more - the BBC or ITV?

advert or trailer its all the same to me
what they do now though, is prior to episode 1 (for example) they show trailers including parts from episode 1 and 2, which is just giving too much away

BBC 2 when the snookers not on, fantastic.
Can any one tell me if you can get the BBC 2 clips like when the 2 flips like a fluffy dog thing! Oh, you know what I mean I don't know what to call it, What are they called?

maybe I'm getting middle aged and boring...but soldering your TV to your video, or adjusting the colour contrast, just to avoid paying a £100 licence fee......seems a little OTT for me. Reminds me of those "Viz" handy hints - "dont bother wasting money carpeting your whole house, just stick a square of carpet to each foot" type of thing.
Maybe I earn too much , that £100 doesnt seem like a lot of money for a whole year's entertainment ( some good, some crap, some terrific)
Maybe I'm too rule bound - I dont speed while driving because the rules say not to (also cos I understand the safety reasons), I wait for the green man before crossing the road, I don't smoke in a no-smoking zone....
My experience of the TV licence people is that they are real fascists. yes thay have access to databases of personal information - when I upgraded my cable service (under a new surname) they sent a letter assuming I was a new subscriber, and then wanted written evidence of my name change. When I was moving house they wanted more documentary evidence of the actual date of leaving.
To give them credit they did give me a refund...

Not paying licence fee = No BBC. No BBC = no H2G2.

Good point!
Although I have to agree that the TV licensing people are a bunch of fascists, and it's them that my family and friends object to the most, the way you are treated like a second-class citizen if they come to your house. One of my friends had just bought his new licence, but as it wasn't on their records they were going to fine him. He had to dig out all these pieces of paper just to prove it....

Growl and don't let them in!
After feeling a little paranoid earlier on in this thread, I got a letter. What a coincidence!
