Anyone want to have a go at cheering me up?

Well 'little bits of fluff', there are loads of silly threads on hootoo if you want that. I often enjoy going to them. But sometimes I really like facing up to sadness, like watching a sad film or listening to sad poignant music. That often makes me feel better than a load of unreal happy clappy stuff. Sorry this thread didn't cheer you up. If you read the backlog there were jokes that might have cheered you up. We've suddenly hit a serious bit, like threads do! Your post didn't particularly cheer me up!

What do you need fluff? Jokes? Hugs? Funny stories? Black humour? Silliness? Being listened to?

This thread drift might, perversely, achieve the desired effect of cheering Kea up. Seeing how dispondent everybody else has suddenly become might make her think;
"Blimey, and i thought I was miserable"

I would hazard a guess that most of us on this thread are a bit (or a lot) bi-polar type & can & do zoom from absolute elation to utter bottom of the pit stuff in the time it takes to make a posting. Certainly i can, guilty as charged.
What really pi**es me off is that so often it is dependent on somebody elses mood, but since the somebody else is actually far more neurotic than me, and i happen to care about them & won't bloody well abandon them; i have to live with this choice & make the best of it.
But it doesn't stop me getting on my own behalf many times. I think it's important to be able to say, either online or in RL "look, i am just having a really s**t time right now, please just let me whinge, give me a , maybe can't give anything back right now *but* when you are feeling sh***y; hopefully i can do the same for you"
We can't give up on loving other people; it's heartbreak & massive massive risk, but it's also our only saving grace; it's the only way out of the pit & often we attract partners who are also down in that pit, that's just how it is. On the plus side, we tend to care more than most, having been there ourselves, and surely the world needs more people who care about their fellow humans rather than say "oh sod them, if they are in trouble it's not my problem!"
End of sermon; but any advice on helping a very depressed human male lifeform gratefully appreciated, please.

You missed out an 's', but who's counting? The main thing is that joke was funny, although strangely painful at the same time.

Yes!
Like your tagline B'Elana, that song will never sound the same from now on! (Bloody deputy had it coming to him; what the hell; why should the sheriffs get all the column inches huh?)

Two vomits walking down the road.
One suddenly bursts out crying.
"What's wrong?" says the other
"Nothing", says the first vomit tearfully, "It's just that this is where I was brought up".

Here I go again, it's my only joke, so apologies if I already told it here . . .
Man walks into a pet shop and says - 'I'd like to buy a wasp, please.'
Shopkeeper says - 'I'm very sorry, sir, but we don't sell wasps here.'
And the man says - 'But you've got one in your window!'

Alrighty... here are my favourites. I don't know why but I really like these...
How do you catch a unique rabbit?
Unique up on it!
How do you catch a tame rabbit?
Da tame way!
And here's one of which I'll just tell the first line. There are myriad variations but the punch line is always the same. Feel free to blurt it out to save the others the pain of having to hear this 'joke'.
Ready?...
I'll say it slowly for emphasis....
Here goes...
