What should be the 11th commandment
DoctorGonzo Posted Jul 22, 2001
btw, that post was only in reference to myself, it wasn't directed at anyone
I had typed out a few lines in reply, then noticed that it was a lot of nonsense. Post in haste, repent at leisure...

Who's for founding a new, nonjudgmental faith without any anthropomorphised Supreme Beings?

Sounds good, but it still needs a Central Theme of some kind.

I could be te central theme, you know; I could be the non-god-type-thing you worship???? but I guess that goes against the whole thing eh?

I cannot remember if Xanatic posted it here or in another thread, (yes I know I should read the backlog, but that ain't in commandments one to ten, so I didnt!) but he mentioned Scientific Pantheism.
I googled for a bit and found it does more or less what you suggest.
Doesn't do it for me, though. I beleive in reincarnation... in reincarnation... -incarnation... -ation.

I believe in very little, certainly not myself.

I've always thought that "Be really nice to everyone, whenever humanly possible and sometimes when it isn't." deserves to be one of the commandments, but the Golden Rule would be good too.

"Thou shalt not trust in the 6000 year-old oral traditions of illiterate desert nomads above and beyond thine own powers of reason."
Or, as better stated elsewhere, "The foolish believeth every word." Proverbs 14:15.

Again, I won´t make any comments on the moral code in the Bible. Have already done that enough other places.
Don´t call them illiterate desert nomads. Sure they´re living in the dark ages now but once they used to be great scientists. It just went downhill for them when all that religion came.
Scientific Pantheism is kind of atheism with the good things of religion. A moral equivalent to religion as some has called it. But I also just find worshipping me seems like a good thing Just sacrifice me a virgin every now and then and I´m happy.

Pardon me for going back to the original topic, but I would like to add:
"Thou shall not drive a SUV without a speck of dirt on it and a cell phone glued to thine ear."
Thank you.

Likewise:
"Do not attempt to cross a road with a mobile phone in use... those who do should be prepared to face the consequences, which are:
-blundering into path of oncoming vehicle
-eternal damnation and embarrassment for being so bloody daft."
'Let me die a young man's death' said Roger McGough; presumably he did not extend that to the above.

Also, thou shalt not apply mascara while driving your car.
An eye for an eyelash... strikes me as a hefty price to pay.

Nope... even *I'm* not THAT foolish. It's what I say to all my customers who are looking for makeup that they can apply easily while driving to work.

And you direct them towards the airbrush department right?
There is nothing that can make you feel safer than seeing a big truck driving down the highway towards you on your bike, giving you a clear view of the driver holding a cigarette in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.

except if they're wearing sunglasses and have a mobile wedged between ear and shoulder.
Spare a thought for my poor family, who are currently enduring a long car journey. Followed by a ferry crossing, then more car. Whereas I get to stay at home and practice my religion as outlined above.
