Imagine you had to choose the content for a time capsule which was going to be sent into a 5,000 year orbit and would come back to earth at that stage. You only have the equivalent space to one 2-litre pop bottle. What would you put in it?

But it is unlikely that the earth of 5,000 years hence would understand what the funny marks on the newspaper were..just as we don't understand what the neolithich stoneworked shapes (spirals) are all about.

We wouldn't want people who are alive five thousand years from now to think that our level of intelligence was that low.

As long as there was something that explained what the Darwin awards were because then they would know that the winners were considered to be extremely stupid people and they would know that we were not all that stupid.

Lets put an inflatable chair in the time capsule
When it comes back, the people 5000 years from now can enjoy all of the same comfort that we did and can discover the wonders of the inflatable chair
