"The river to the ocean goes,a fortune for the undertow.
None of this is going my way.
There is nothing left to throw
of Ginger, lemon, indigo, coriander stem and rose of hay."
Teenage poetry syndrome, anyone?
No wait, - I stand corrected. Compared to R.E.M., Jimi Hendrix couldn't play a guitar, Afrika Black Mambazo can't hold a tune, "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" has no meaning and B.B. King is just a flash in the pan.

Just because his words sometimes seem meaningless, that doesn´t mean thay are...
Find the river is a deeply beautiful song about finding your place in the world, swimming against the stream and not always conforming to what people expect of you...
If you wanna discuss the further, please start a thread on my page. I will be happy to convince you that R.E.M. songs do indeed have meaning...

*ROFL at Apathetic's Lopez-Carey dream scenario*
Well, someone already mentioned Limp Bizkit, so I'd just like to add Crazy Town to that list - for the exact same reasons.

Hm, hm, hmm
Now, the most obvious "musician" that bores me must be Britney Spears.. sorry, but I find that kind of music just plain BORING!
Same goes for boybands... and Christina Aguilera, and so on.
What is it there really? "Oh, look at me, I am pretending to have rythm and a voice but that is ok because all 12 years old like the look of my body!"
No.. that is what I call boring.

Look, from all the music I've ever heard (except for the music I own) i.e. the stuff that's on TV and the Radio the majority is not good (and no, I shall not enter into a discussion about anything connected with taste in music ). Therfore I "would throw away in boredom or disgust" most musicians. Easy as that.

Nah.. I love music, as long as it is the right kind of music. And there is different kinds of music suitable for different kind of moods. And just because some musicians are on the radio, doesn't mean that the radio song is very good.. usually all you need for a radio song is a nice beat with some text upon..

"Boredom and disgust" is quite specific. There's music I dislike, but I absolutely recognise other people's right to dig it. Whereas there is some music that I would actively try rehabilitation for the fans

Could.. but I don't listen much to radiosongs. And I am not sure if classical music is going under the term "song"..?

I think he's been mentioned before but Phil Collins does my nut in. Why, Oh, why, oh, spells yo-yo ! no seriously, i was watching the smell of reeves and mortimer the other night and 'flannigan and o'hare's' version of another day in paradise is inspired.
i just don't get country: i was born in a shack, my mother has no legs and my father has no arms, the shack burnt down cos no one could turn the oven off and then the dog dies and we've all been forced to live in shoe .... oh woe is me. pants!
and westlife - what's that all about? (oh god, i've started now and i can't stop)

You can't call people who stand on stage behind decks playing other peoples work musicians so I suppose I can't include them so,
Mark Knopfler - may be technically accomplished but oh so boring
'boy' bands - Westlife etc
'girl' bands - Spice Girls & clones
Stockhausen
Eric Clapton
Celine Dion
The Jackson Family
Slipknot - Come back Slayer all is forgiven
Iron Maiden
U2 (another vote)
Anybody else I can upset ?

Ah, Celine Dion. I'm glad that mad old giraffe made it into this list. But you know what is more annoying than her music? The fact that she's married to perhaps the only man in the world who doesn't see that skinny broom-handle neck and want to choke the breath from her lips.
THE SHIP SANK! SHUT UP ALREADY.

Cloviscat Posted May 17, 2001
Check for Leonard Cphen - doesn't the fact that celine dion's husband is twice her (current) age and been with her since she was *fifteen* just make one a tad suspicious?
Someone mentioned Mariah Carey earlier, but she's worth throwing in again!

I've never liked to get personal about people I haven't actually met, but in the case of Mariah Carey I shall make an exception - she has the monopoly on smugness and self satisfaction, whilst I agree she is attractive, she is not a legendary beauty although behaves as such, in all the interviews I have ever read about her she comes over as arrogant, vain, bitchy and self-important. Does anyone else agree?
Musicians you would throw away in boredom or disgust.
The Apathetic Posted May 17, 2001
Smug? Yes.
Conceited? Yes.
Arrogant? Yes.
Self important? Yes.
Stupid? More than likely.
The world would be a better place if Mariah "Porpoise Girl" Carie would kindly hit a high note whilst stood in a glass greenhouse. With hilarious consequences.
