Ah yes but with enough practice and training you will soon be able to flare at will, just by thinking of ammonia. See, it's working already.

i can wiggle my eyebrows, mexican wave them, roll tongue and ,tadaaa,i can move/waggle my double jointed toes but that bothers me.
as for genitics ,1 child can do all the above, another none and the other well we're not sure as his life is full of better things. like girls, clubs and attitude but maybe really they're experimenting with ears eyebrows and various tongue movements. <{{><

I can do all of the above, ear wiggling, tongue curling, independent eyebrows (eg, doing a waltz left-right-right, left-right-right) & knee caps. Ear wiggling may be genetic (my father does it too), and I taught myself the eyebrow moving when I was fond of Starship Enterprise.
Plus I can do the Vulcan greeting with four fingers (I) and the thumb (T), in II_II_T and I_II_I_T patterns, as well as rapidly changing between these
But please what is the mexican wave thing?

The mexican wave is a kind of undulation of the eyebrows,a ripple effect if you will."friend of baggyfish

Naaah, surely not. That's an, err, feature of this server . The server receives your posting once you press the 'Post' button, and again next time you press - whether it has sent the page back to you or not!
The best thing to do is open another browser window, and go to your homespace (or update if you're already there) -- if the posting appears there then all it takes is to copy the link into the other window and voila - there's your posting!

Unfortunately Stan Laurel couldn't wiggle his ears at all. It was a studio trick - they simple glued thread to his ears and pulled.

You mean some people CAN'T flare their nostrils voluntarilly, or waggle their knee caps independantly? Good Heavens - I must be more special than I realised! Can't roll the tongue or move the eyebrows independently, although one of my sons can... must ask them about the knees. Both can curl their upper lips very eloquently.
I can't. And from what I remember, neither could their father...

I can raise only one eyebrow, wink only the opposite eye, flare both nostrils & raise either knee cap. Can't do tongue rolling - no rrrrrrs for me!
I think it must be genetic, just depends what nerve/muscle connections you have. A weak facility could be strengthened but I doubt you can learn to do an action if there's no nerve supply to it.
My Dad could move his ears backwards.
