A Conversation for Talking Point: Most Embarrassing Moments
High-altitude embarrassment

This was easily the most embarrassing moment of my life.
It was 1983 or 1984, and I was climbing Mount Jefferson in New Hampshire (USA) with a few members of my family. We were about three-quarters of the way to the top, when my pants split at the crotch. I happened to have a jacket with me, and I draped it around my waist, hoping that my relatives would not get wise to what had happened.
Anyway, we got to the summit and then went back down to the bottom of the mountain. Luckily for me, no other disasters happened to me onh that trip.

It was embarrassing for me. It could have been more embarrassing if any other hikers came along and realized what had happened.
