My lovely beagle Homer has a habit of running laps around the house when he is excited. He also vaults off of the couch during these laps.
One day he ran for the couch, and some how, jumped over it, which scared him greatly. The last image I saw was of him hanging on to the back of the couch with one front leg trying to hang on.
No harm done

My beagle, Bacon, had always jumped on the back of my roommate's couch. It was a nice and fluffy couch and he made himself a little indentation and would take a nap.
When my roommate moved out I bought a new couch, a much stiffer new couch, and put it roughly in the same place as the old couch. Bacon tried his trick only to go flopping over the couch and onto the floor. He did this about five times before he finally remembered. Sometimes he still looks up at the couch like he might give it a go, but he hasn't done it for a few months now.

Bacon?
It's about as weird as Homer
We found Homer stray one day, and we were driving home trying to think up names...we finally got to Simpsons characters

Bacon was also a rescue case. Someone left him behind at an apartment complex when they moved (some people are evil) and he was all flea-ridden and hungry. So I took him in and now he is fat and happy. I drew his name out of a hat because my roommate and I were fighting over what to name him, so she put in five favorite names and I put in five and we drew. Bacon was one of her names. I wanted to call him Hal.
Naming your dog after Homer from the Simpsons is fantastic. My favorite breed of dog and my favorite show of all time.

interesting question.
We once looked after a blind dog called Homer (he wasn't a beagle). Is there a connection between the name Homer and blindness in dogs?

The very famous ancient Greek poet Homer, after whom all Homers are named, and who wrote the Illiad and the Odyssey, was also famously blind. Hence blindness and Homers. The Simpsons, fantastic as they are, have given us a whole new reason to call pets Homer and the original has been forgotten.

We had a one-eyed cat called Nelson for a while. No one, I repeat NO ONE got it. Tsk.
