A Conversation for Talking Point: Endearing Pets
my hamster went for a swim

Just like parrots and as if i were a pirate, I walked around with the bantams (chickens) on my shoulder. One particular day though my pet hamster was put on my shoulder and some how plunged into the water of the sink. First I was afraid I was petrified thinking how on earth is it going to survive, but then I looked down at the sink and found to my surprise it was swimming. The hamster of course went into shock when it came out from the sink but was cuddled and towelled down and survived for more days than you would have thought. (good ol Caramel)

I've witnessed what I call the "Oh my god, look! The bugger's swimming!" phenomenon with more than hamsters. Actually, it was a hamster(dwarf) and a fat guinea pig. I was carrying one of them (the hamster-guinea pigs have long claws) around when filling the sink to wet towels to wipe them clean with. The little thing literally jumped off my shoulder into the sink, and I was shocked for about 10 seconds before I realized that the dwarfie had learned to swim. After the 10 senconds I reached down and scooped him up, of course, and he's still alive now.
Now I'm beginning to wonder if he was swimming or just flailing, but I don't feel like risking his life to preform an experiment.

I do believe that experimenting is wrong how would people like it if hamsters etc turned the tables round and experimented on humans? I can see a horror film being made out of this little corker
