A Conversation for Talking Point: Children's Television
Sooty and Sweep.

Izzy wizzy, let's get busy!
I remember being quite fond of this show.
Sooty, one of the best of the silent performers; & Sweep with his endearing (or annoying!) squeeker voice.
Who needed comprehensible speech to understand it?
Not I! And I loved it.

And it made some great out takes in the form of
Sue: "What's that Sooty?"
Sooty: "It's my bloody radio mic, it's fallen off again."
or
Sue: "Look what Aunty Joan's sent us, it's a flower press."
[Sooty struggles with flower press and can't get the top off]
Sue: "Bloody Aunty Joan, never did like the miserable cow."

I want a Sooty T-shirt.
If I passed a shop window and saw one tomorrow, I would buy it.
( I was madly addicted to bears as a child, and so naturally I loved this show.) Sue was an annoying little know-it-all.
