Dognapping... Is it in your area??

It *is* in mine! So much so, I have even contacted Outrider to warn him about it.
VC phoned me yesterday, to tell me what happened to the Dental Practice's receptionist:-
'Lucy' took in a rescue Staffordshire Bull Terrier when her old dog sadly died. 'Carson' has been with her for about 8 months now.
Yesterday, she went home in her lunch hour (a normal thing) to give the dog some company and to let him into the garden for his call of nature. She remained in the garden with him for sometime, then returned inside, leaving the backdoor open.
After a couple of minutes, she looked out to find the front gate open.. as was the back gate. Someone had walked right round the house, and taken 'Carson' out via the back gate. Distraught 'Lucy' phoned the police.
At about 4pm Lucy received a phone call from the police, telling her Carson was at a local vets surgery. The vet told her an elderly lady was walking her dog and noticed a white van slowing down.. and a dog was pushed out .. before speeding off again.
The dog was distressed and lady managed to coax it to follow her home, where she contacted her own vet to come out and collect him. The vet had given the dog a through check up, and other than a few scrapes from being thrown from a moving van, Carson was alright.
However, the vet did say that "baiting" and "fighting" is on the increase. That Carson had been stolen for that purpose and that cats have been disappearing in this area too; the vet thinks the cats are being used to torment the dogs into reacting violently.
Carson was lucky, he had been neutered. The lack of testosterone levels make him too docile for their purpose, which is why he was discarded.
We do everything to protect our possessions, please don't forget your pets, they are part of the family too.

Another good reason to give 'em the chop (which many people still don't do).

Umm... I missed a bit out there..
It should have been something along the lines of:
"We protect our possessions, treasure our family, our pets are part of the family too"
Sorry, train of thought was disturbed by two phone calls while I was composing that Journal..
Welcome to my PS Montague Trout

[Thanks. Were you one an Asteroid?]
For record, I don't like pets. Never have. It's documented regularly on the site to the extent that I might be a serial troll or a spammer. Sorry. I'll unsuscribe now. But the point I make is that pets are animals, they're not family. They serve a function, i.e., they are as you stated in Post 1 possessions, and as such aren't in any way family: likewise, our kids and parents are our family, not our possessions.

Now *that* are things that can *rally* make me angry.
'animals are possessions'
Never let me get you.

They shouldn't be, but if you buy one it's your possession. Personally I wouldn't buy one - I don't think they should have human living conditions imposed on them.
Mind you, I'm not a vegetarian so am a steaming great hypocrite once again.

I'm not a vegetarian either, but I'm far from seeing animals as things.

I don't see animals as things, which is why I wouldn't dream of buying or breeding one. They shouldn't be in the home and should never have been bred to be in the home. Breeding animals for profit? Disgusting but rarely mentioned.

Animals aren't things, they, many of them anyway, are sentient beings and thinking of sentient beings as things is what leads to things such as slavery, racism and the holocaust.
Now that rant's over shona would alert us if anyone came to take her away...plus we'd notice it had gone quiet. Anyway she could easily take on a nasty dognapper and a cat and a bullterrier.

I didn't mean you.
True, I guess if I'd want a dog I'd rather go to the animal shelter.
And it really is bad what kinds of dogs they breed. All these poor creatures with breathing problems and whatnot and then cutting of their tails and ears...

I'm not vegetarian either, but if you take on the responsibility for keeping a pet, you do grow attached to them..
btw Tav,
MT has unsubbed

Animals *are* 'things', strictly speaking anything is a 'thing', i think what people are saying is that they should be treated, not as a 'thing' but as a 'being'.
anyway, the dognapping, basically people are stealing pedigree dogs because they can't be bothered to breed the dogs themselves. i don't have a problem with dog breeding but being lazy and stealing the dogs it a very big sin.

He is entitled to his point of view, and as he was polite in here, I have invited him to come back.
I once had a neighbour who was all for Hari Krnshna and was trying to indoctrinate my girls to the faith... that was until she invited some bigwig to stay.
He was horrified that she had six pet cats and deemed that now animal should be owned by humans.. that they should be left to roam!..
.. The following month she went over to Jehovah ..

Humans don't own s, it's the opposite way around. Just ask my Garcon Le ..
P.S. My big sister is a JW, and my kid brother is a Mormon! Can't get no relief from either.

Of course he can say what he thinks. But I can't help it: I get angry when I hear it.
Maybe I should just unsub, too.
