Since it either involves time travel or universe in someone's brain and counts as sort of vaguely sci-fiy. Did anyone else think "Life On Mars" was rather good was last night.

I did indeed think it was rather good... the bit where they jumped over the desk shows that the writer is a big fan of The Sweeney.
And, if the two pre-moderated posts are from the same person (and I can probably hazard a guess who it is) can you, in future, PLEASE wait until one post is cleared before posting again... I am getting *really* fed up with seeing several Hidden posts on the same thread, and as far as I'm concerned it's a serious breach of etiquette to keep doing it.

I hope i'm replying to a thread about 'Life On Mars', it's a bit hard to tell amongst all the Hidden posts
Great stuff! Anyone know how many episodes it's going to be?
I notice there weren't many shots of that gorgeous Mk III Cortina going round corners. We used to have one, it used to roll rather alarmingly

Okay, maybe the swearing was a bit harsh (but I did asterisk it, thus I wasn't actually in breach of the House Rules) but it wouldn't have killed you to wait before posting the link (which most people with an interest in the show would have found anyway)? Also posting an apology which you know will be pre-moderated after being asked not to post too much when on pre-mod isn't going to win you any friends.

No matter if you asterix the swearing or not it was not needed and very imature

(Additional to the bit about posting an apology on pre-mod: I pointed that out because the post could have been anything, not necessarily an apology)
So, back to the topic: This is probably one of the most original shows the Beeb's done in a long time. Not so much because of the central concept (the whole accidental time travel and having to adjust to life in the past has been done to death) but because of how it was executed... the voices of the doctors in 2006 was a nice touch, and the bit with the TV was weird as anything!

Yeah, the beeb seems to going through a renaissance especially BBC Wales who green-lighted this and who are the same folks responsible for the celebrated Who revival and last year's highly enjoyable "Cassanova". An article in the Radio Times says that the guys behind it originally approached Channel Four who thought it was too way out and turned it down (silly people). In the same article the guys behind it say they were fed up of the same old cop shows and wanted to re-make "The Sweeney" but realised that in this day and age to do that straight be impossible and so came up with a twist that would allow them to sort of do it. I'm probably showing my age but the guy playing the Regan character I remember from playing Dobbin in the last version of "Vanity Fair".

I thought it was excellent! The attention to detail in re-creating the 70s was just superb - somebody somewhere deserves a craft award for that.
Crackling dialogue, thought-provoking plot, strong acting. I was hooked from the start.
And there is no way I'd want to go back and live in the 70s! The decade that taste forgot - that flowery wallpaper, brown clothes everywhere, and don't get me started on equality issues.
Why do people feel the need to post on something that they haven't seen and don't have an opinion on? My best friend always uses the question "what would it be like if everybody did that?" as a guide to proper behaviour. What would it be like if everybody posted "Haven't seen it" every time a TV program or film was being discussed, hmmm?

Was that aside in a Carter/Regan manner?.. "Some bleedin' scrote, up to 'is old tricks, usual MO, less go get 'im lads!" *jumps over desk*
<> Hear hear Lucky Star, fantastic work from the props and scenic team, there must be warehouses full of bits and pieces from the past, how much fun would it be to have a look round them?

Never seen why people get so huffy about swearing myself unless it's been shouted loudly in someone's face or it's every other word in someone's dialogue which makes me cringe or it's in front of small kids then they're just words.
Wolfie I know you're a decent bloke but I think that if you are starting to rub everyone up the wrong way you probably should start asking yourself if there aren't ways to stop doing it for both your sake and theirs before it all ends in tears with you being barred.
