yes, that's true. The above article is pure anecdote. But intersting nonetheless.

I think problems occur when we are given a label that we disagree with.
For example I would react very strongly if accused of racism - unless it was by a french person, where I'd probably have to hang my head in shame.
However I admit to being anti-homosexual, in another thread someone pulled me up for my assumption that homosexuality and monogamy were exclusive. I didn't say it, but it was clear from my post that I thought it.
Whilst I am unable to understand the certainty expressed by fanatics, I understand some of the need they have for this belief. I cannot understand the attraction for a member of ones own sex. This enables me to lay the automatic response of those generally accused of racism - I have homosexual friends, this does not make me any less anti-homosexual, it just means that like most members of the human race I'm capable of choosing what I 'see' in any given situation.
We are infinitely capable of adapting our minds to fit the impractical and impossible, paradoxes we mentally dissemble daily.

and that may be our saving grace.

Ah yes. But surely it is up to the perspective of the individual? Anyone can believe anything they want when it comes to religion and should do so without mockery, ridicule or disrepect. As long as they don't try to force their beliefs onto some one else, or sneer at another persons religion, then ok, let them believe what they want. Whatever relgion.Voltaire said something along the lines of : "I don't have to agree to what you are saying, but I'll defend to the death your rtight to say it."
Key: Complain about this post
