h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

The other week I vowed not to write on h2g2 any more.
Since we didn't have any trouble recently, I thought I'd disregard my vow and write something for our Christmas issue. Result: an email from the moderators: that my article was failed.
So, back to the drawing board, and replying to the mods, asking for the REAL reason.

I give up.

Off-topic? For a community which thrives on topic drift?

And this is not the Archers, or Eastenders or any specific message board, either.

Plus, it was all to do with h2g2 and the Post - how on earth could that be off topic?

I'm incredibly fed up.

There's something going on somewhere. I updated my PS the other day and it was hidden, referred. The e-mail also said I was off topic for the message board. It was back fairly quickly, I didn't even reply to the mail.
How you can be off topic when you haven't even posted is beyond me.
I'm putting it down to the upcoming change over and technical glitches rather than any sort of moderation or moderator issue.
If, however, message board moderators, especially at w/e's, are monitoring hootoo as well then they need to be informed of the difference between message boards and the hootoo community.

Have they made the hampsters run backwards or anything??

Er, I also hate the severe moderation that's going on?

I can always count on my friends to cheer me up when I'm really P***ed off.

I ought to add for the benefit of the message board moderators, we're certified loonies on 'ere, they only play at it on them other boards.

I want to know who moderates the moderators?

Since I have been on H2G2 I have always had my e-mail address on my Personal space. Yet when I went to update it my P.S. was moderated.

I am an adult! If someone sends me an e-mail and I don't know the person or do not like it, I ignore it. I am an adult!

I am an adult. I know what is right and wrong online, and I moderate myself, as I know what is acceptable and what isn't; I am an adult.

I am an adult. I enjoy H2G2 for being a different medium to all the other forums online. It is different. It is fluffy. It is tough.It is cutting. It is caring. It is friendly. It is scathing. It is Family. I am a child again. I am home, amongst friends and family, That is why I like ity, and why I am still here. And the Moderators can do NOTHING about that!!!

I would hate the moderators to drive away my friends. H2G2 has lost too many in the last few years. It can't afford to lose any more!

So back off Mods or we'll set 2legs and the Hampsters on you.

Hmmm ... I only got hit with moderation a few times here recently, and there was at least some sort of reason for it ... I was talking about incidents that had court cases about them going on. I still think that didn't really deserve moderation. But in your case Bel I think it was a glitch not having anything to do with the content you were writing ...

But somehow this must get fixed because it ruins the flow of things.

I have to say, when I see the rules on other forums (stay on topic, no double posts, check first if no other thread with similar topic has been started, do this, don't do that)* I am very happy that we have hootoo. Despite the weird auto-mod it is still one of the most cosy places on teh interwebz.
