I am soaked - but not in treacle...

...and it doesn't rain, either.
I'm currently without a car to do any shopping. So now I knew that I'd be car-less, and I did the weekly shopping last Thursday. But with two lads who are always hungry (no #1 was here for most of the weekend), and who drink as if it were water; with just one onion left and hardly any bread in the home, I had to go and buy some groceries. The shop is only a mile away, which isn't too bad. The weather is nice, so I walked there (I didn't really have a choice, cause the husband has dissassembled my bicycle and declared it can't be fixed). Arrived at the shop, bought onions, milk, bread etc, put all the shopping in my rucksack and a bag and intended to take the home. Unfortunately, I had just missed a by a minute, so the next would only leave 14 minutes later. That's about the amount of time it takes me to walk the mile, so I decided to save the money for the ticket and walk home instead of waiting.
But boy, it's warm! And with a good 10kg to carry, I got somewhat heated.
Still, I made it here before the next , and it saved me money and time (if only about three minutes).
And then I found out that my Pumpernickel entry is on the FP.

oh dear, bel, proper ladies don't sweat
my mother taught me sweat, men perspire and women feel warm

I'm not sure about the double entendre there, Pierce. We used to say,
"Horses sweat, men perspire and women merely glow."

Baked beans on pumpernickel bread - yes! Although E. Abthorpe never knew about his distinguished family connection

Nice entry
Pumpernickel is a bit too sweet for my taste (as far as I remember, as I haven't tasted it since I was a mere child).
Now I'll have to try it again.

Well done on the pumpernickel entry.
Can't you move house closer to the shop?

Thanks all.
It's not really that sweet, Tartaronne.
Vestie, that would mean we had to *gasp* move house.
I think it would be easier to by a new bicycle.
