Oh, he's very good at DIY - usually. He claimed that the 'Tretlager' (bottom bracket?) was beyond repair. What can I say?

Is that a 'lower bracket' or a bracket to hold one's bottom? smiley - weird

Bottom bracket's what Leo gives.

That's difficult when you confuse me with you lower brackets to hold one's bottom. smiley - tongueout

Gnomon - time to move on

Yes, if the bottom bracket is gone, it's not going to be easy to fix.

I once had a bike that was completely trashed - no good for anything more. The pedals were broken, front wheel was buckled, and it really had nothing going for it. It was just going to mean a trip to the town dump. So I trusted in human nature - waited until it was dark, left it outside the house, and it was gone inside half an hour.

I can't imagine buying a new one would be cheaper, though. One of these days, I'll bring it to the bike shop.
