Guess I'll have to break the news, that I got no mind to lose

Scratched records are so much more meaningful than CDs that skip. I do love buying new records though - lovely shrink wrapped sleaves, uncreased inserts and mint condition vinyl is a rare luxury.

Number Six, I have Super Black Market Clash too. I prefer their 'real' albums, especially the first three, but it's still a damn good record. I like the variety - everything from early through to late Clash is on there smiley - smiley

I'm listening to Social Distortion's 'White light, white heat, white trash' which I'm assuming is a Velvet Underground/Lou Reed reference. A 60s Garage comp that Superdogmonkey made me and 'Endtroducing' by DJ Shadow are also on heavy rotation.

Scratches on vinyl are just as Greta says a part of their and my history. I would never ever part from my dear old vinyls.
My kids, 16 years old, are really fascinated by my vinyl collection -but are really not familiar with how they work
The vinyl album sleeves are another aspect that I miss on the tiny little CD. Earlier it worked as an extention for the music
Favourite album cover?
Mine has to be Horses with Patti Smith

Hi everyone

I love my old vinyl, too. There's some tunes I can listen to on CD now and imagine the scratchy sounds my turntable made when I played the albums... *wistful sigh*

Hey, Rocket Man, I've picked up Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around" and also Gang of Four's "A Brief History of the Twentieth Century" on CD over the weekend. Interested in a copy of either? Oh, and yes, it was sad to learn of Johnny Cash's wife's death. smiley - blue

Favorite album cover...
Dead Kennedys "Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death", Jane's Addiction "Nothing's Shocking" (not punk, I know, but still brilliant), or Big Black "The Rich Man's Eight-Track Tape". Can't decide which.

I think my favourite two (apart from my girlfriend's 'Zen Arcade') are the Buzzcocks 'Singles Going Steady' and the first Jam album.

I do think that Sgt. Pepper's by the Beatles is a cool album cover, especially the LP-size version.

Singles Going Steady by the Buzzcocks is cool. I also have their new album, 'Modern', which is quite good.

I think the Ramones had some of the worst, yet also very cool, albums ever.

Sorry everybody, not been around much!

To anyone who is interested, the new book is about four friends and a virtual woman who may have become a living thing (although the definition of life is very much the question). It has a dysfunctional love story, some humour, some suspense and a lovable, if slightly cranky, anti-hero.

Is the book in English or Italian, Greta? I'd love a copy if it gets published in English smiley - smiley

I'm not much of a fan of LTJ, sorry. On the ska side I'm playing Operation Ivy and Capdown at the moment.

I must be a weirdo because I've never heard a song by the Vandals in my life, despite them being a contempary band that a lot of people of a similar age to might like.

I was reasonably looking forward to seeing everyone's favourite satano-punk band Leftover Crack at the end of June, but it turns out that I have to go on a stupid biology field trip so South Wales and won't be able to go. I saw them last year though so I'm not complaining smiley - smiley

Hey!

Mind band is playing at The Central in Parkstone, Poole, on Thursday 29th. Doors open at 8pm... but I'm not sure anyone reading this thread will be from the area.

Worth a try though eh?

Hello there! Just dropping in to say that I'm going to a punk-emo-indie-whatever festival tomorrow. I was supposed to meet somebody there, but they might not turn up, so I'm going alone like the big bad woman I am smiley - smiley

Everything's ready, tent included... all systems go!

Hey everyone,

My zine 'Rock n Roll Creation' is now published. If anyone from the society would like a copy, then drop an email to [email protected] (although I'd appreciate it if you called me Matt in emails to that address, rather than the embarrassing 'Rocket Man' smiley - smiley)
