The back of the napkin (in my opinion anyway) is the side without a lipprint on it after the meal. Before said imprint is placed it's subject to your own discretion. smiley - ok

Thanks for the info and links etc.

I must admit I don't think I've ever even seen a napkin with a lipprint on it in person, let alone written on one, so i guess its safe to say I was writing on the back (assuming of course I was writing on said napkin at all)

Well, I said I forgot the napkin on the table when I left, but come to think of it..smiley - huh.. maybe I wrote on my hand instead. An interesting hypothesis. Unfortunately it still means the information is lost forever, since there are those rare occasions when I wash my hands. It must have come off then. smiley - sadface

I shall have to ponder this further over a piece of fresh fruit.
