So let me get this straight. You want us all to go to go to a giant public forum (the bowling alley) and there demonstrate our total ineptitude at chucking heavy balls roughly in the direction of a pile of skittles half a mile away on the far side of the room. Then, second genius idea, we all toddle off to a public house of some description where we will demonstrate our complete lack of general knowledge by not answering questions which you want someone to *volunteer* to set.
Hmmm...
OK, sounds good to me! I'm always up for making a fool of myself (unless, for the record, ice skating is involved)
Now all we need is some muggins to dream up a few questions...

I've no idea what or where it is so I can't comment. Just make sure I've got a good map and I'll bring a navigator with me so that I actually manage to turn up.

Well meeting in the POW would obviously be easier for all so we could meet there and head down to UCI when everyone turns up..??

Yup. Meeting up in one place would still be sensible, preferably as close to the bus/train station as possible. While it might be fun to have a scavenger hunt all over Cardiff looking for lost Researchers, I think we should leave that one at least until we know what we all look like.

Still something im not clear on, POW is quite a large pub (2 Floors) Upstairs bar is usually quiet but it is Bank holiday as you said.. Even if we are all there, how will we know who the others are..??

By wearing or carrying some predifined thing that marks us out as h2g2 researchers. I think towels are a classic, though somewhere in the b'log is mention of daffodils instead. Or maybe even a towel with a picture of daffodils on...

I get the feeling that most people will turn up late and look for a group of the most likley Hootoo's Do you know how many people have agreed to come..??

Six - you, me, Odo, Milo, Math and Siren - have said they'll definitely be there. Colin will also be turning up at some point with Mrs Colin. Queeglesproggit an Noggin the Nog have said maybe, and Master B may well be accompanying Odo.

How about bowling, a steak at the amazing Taurus steakhouse on St Mary's street and then a couple of games of blackjack and roulette at les croups?

milo, you can compete as hard as you like, I'm going to be concentrating on not getting too many of those ball things in the gutter. At least no-one's admitted to being any good at bowling yet and is going to show the rest of us up big time. Though I thought Odo was keeping suspiciously quiet earlier...

"Though I thought Odo was keeping suspiciously quiet earlier... "
I suggest you bring hard hats with you then, on my first attempt I nearly took the lights out bofore sending the ball straight down the gutter.
Bowling and sounds like a good evening out.
Master B will be present, he's coming down that weekend.

a thought on the quiz mentioned earlier, if we each produced a few questions, say 5 - 10, I'm sure we can all get access to a printer or photocopier, or pen and paper whatever... that wasn't the point, the p[oint was this way we can all join in... to score it as we may not produce the same number of questions we could either score by rounds won, or by assuming the questioner got all their own questions right (need to have a limit to number of questions...) anyway just some thoughts...
