and while i am about it... this silly little thread, F7334674?thread=4169786 the ifirantheworld thread, is the one he is referring to when he says this:
fluffykerfuffle "since mu beta attacked me very rudely, in my own thread, 4 days after i appeared on this site"
Mu Beta : "And, as I explained very lucidly at the time, it is very rare and impolite practice on this site for people to attempt to take ownership of threads. Do the words 'open forum' mean nothing to you?"
when Mu Beta interrupted the silliness with his misbegotten remark: "That is the most ridiculous thing that I've ever heard. Would you care to explain the rationale behind that shallow-minded thinking?" in posting 4, he was in fact interrupting the gist of the thread... and THAT is frowned upon by h2g2... or so they say.
interjecting that mean and down-putting thought into my thread, my game, interrupted its good feelings and whimsy... i didn't even want to carry it on after that... small wonder no one else did either...

Looks like both the thread, and you, did alright after his interjection to me. Then again, why let mere facts get in the way of a good rant eh?

I do feel it's very harsh to keep having a go at poor old Mu Beta. Not that he needs defending, but are you old enough to understand the words 'beginning to sound like a stuck record'?

Well, in fairness to fk, that could apply to either of us.
Besides, I've never objected to people 'having a go' before. I'm entertained by lesser intelligences

"I'm entertained by lesser intelligences"
That's why he's my mate!
Well. Excepting the fact that I'm a genius.

Actually, fkf has done a nearly credible imitation of an american. The apparent lack of intelligence helps the ruse.

I wasn't actually reading your messages. Just skimming down the page to the good bits.

This is getting ridiculous. I don't give a darn who loves or s Americans, the BBC, or Martha Stewart's pug, but I don't particularly like to watch a newby being baited. So I'll unsubscribe, but first I'd like to submit my protestations.
Fluffy, perhaps this is your first time in an online forum. Here's some advice: there is no way you can come out on top so your best bet isn't to try to. It's tough to dump your dignity when it's all you've got online, but trust me: if you want to "make it" in this community, it's the only recourse you've got. And since you've seemed pleasant enough in social threads, I'd recommend you take it.
Arguing online has its own dynamics. Nobody should undertake it unless
1. they've built up "cultural capital" in the community
or 2. they have the hide of a rhino
Based on your posts in this thread, I suspect you don't have the hide of a rhino. In that case, your best bet is to try #1: visit social threads, make friends, dabble in PR, write a few entries. When you've got the credibility, people will listen.
For the rest of you: four months on a site may or may not be long enough for someone to 'get' how things work, but it certainly is long enough for someone to park their foot in their mouth and begin to regret it. Unfortunately, it's much harder to get that foot out online than IRL. Things come across much more strongly online because of the lack of visual and social cues. Things posted without thought are rehashed again and again. I strongly suspect Fluffy will be thinking twice before posting in the future. A little mercy on your part would not be out of place.
Now that I've got that out of my system, I'll leave you all to carry on as you please.
