A Conversation for The Panda Joke

I remember you telling the joke while you were at my parent's house in Cyprus, and we thought it was funny . I was always fond of pandas before you told the joke that day, but i'm not so fond anymore. At least i'll know to dissapear quickly from a bar if a panda happens to walk in hehe. I do agree though that the joke has to be told using the right timing! Most jokes require that, and it's all about how you say it, not what you say. Hooray for panda jokes

Well pandas need something to eat and to shoot at, and last night there was neither of those at the pub i was in.

Hi Wol (sorry, Winnie the Pooh fixation)
Liked the panda joke
Was looking at your space having checked up on peer review and found one of your pedant lists of errors. I thought 'who has the face to nit pick typos in Peer Review?' (I got a negative reaction when I tried it as a newbie)
I suppose someone's got to do it. I shall try not to be upset if you find any typos in my Entries (only one in PR so far on Celtic Knotwork), but glad that someone spotted them. I like to think I don't make mistakes (don't we all?), and have found some people a bit touchy in Peer Review to be picked up on them, I suppose expecting these quibbles to be sorted out if it gets to recommended status.
Good luck on sub-ed status soon.

I appear to get called Wol all the time, I guess.
Usually I commend the articles quite well, and apologise for my pedantry before I begin. The only exception was today (something about Hot Chocolate) where everyone was bickering and I didn't see the need.
I also think having (prospective ... should be tomorrow ) SubEd status helps a lot in the whole "people respect nitpicking" thing.
Glad you liked the Panda Joke, Pimms, and I'll have a look at your knotwork thing in a minute!

Oh and PR is partly there to relieve some stress from the SubEds (plus we're not infallible, and may miss the mistakes ourselves).

Ey up, OwlofDoom - I visited your personal space after reading something you'd said and found my way here.
Now this is interesting (well, it's a little bit interesting) - I heard an entirely different joke with the same punchline years ago, only about a koala bear. I only remember a vague outline, but you can work it out.
The koala in question breaks into a cabin (a bit like in the story of Goldilocks, only the other way around), eats the dinner belonging to the cabin-owner, and then (I hesitate to mention this) finds some pornography and becomes, erm, aroused. Anyhow, I don't want to go into too much detail, I'm sure you get the picture. The koala in question then exits the cabin, leading to the same punchline.
It made me laugh at the time.

... Well this is a somewhat _cleaner_ version... I'd not heard a version with a koala before, so I don't know which was the original...
nice.
Shipwrecked Posted Jun 4, 2003
The American version of this joke involves a panda and a prostitute, and "food" is not what he eats.... nor does he need a gun!
nice.
OwlofDoom Posted Jun 4, 2003
After writing this, I did have a look round on the web for versions of this joke. Most of them involve the panda eating food, and shooting with a gun, but I can see how easily it can be dirtified.
nice.
OwlofDoom Posted Jun 4, 2003
I can't vouch for the origins of this joke, but I'd hazard a guess that it's American originally anyway. I don't know whether the clean or dirty version is older, mind...
