Runrig.... fond memories.
Enigma and Enya. With Enigma, I bought what I thought was a `latest` album that I really wanted, only to discover when I got it home, that it was a `modernised` version. However... I took it back and replaced it with what I originally went for. Didnt stop me taping it though.
Enya is fantastic. She had an album out a couple of years ago which I got as a pressie. Her sister is the lead singer in Clannad who did the theme tune for `Robin... the hooded man`.
Right Said Fred. Ermmmm....
All I can say is that having seen him being interviewed since, he seems intelligent(ish).
Gary Newman. Brilliant. Met him once because he loves to fly aircraft. He just happened to be at Cosford one year when we were there. Good pilot.
In the `looks` department, I would have to vote for Milli Vanilli. Of course, theres been a lot of `hoo-hah` about them in the past because they didnt even sing their own songs. (I decided to put that in as a counter-strike against the Siobhan Fahey bit.)
(Good looking blokes though!)
Once again, I`ve put too much, but I occasionally have to catch up.
Have a great night folks.
Jane

Suddenly a few minutes ago I was humming a musical hall song. I wonder if this is the right place to discuss it as it combines music and theatre. Many old musical songs are being lost and forgetton about. Some of them where quite risque and told much about the life of the poor and the working class of Victorian and Edwardian Britain.
Trinity it is nice to hear from a fellow runrig fan. The word runrig is an old method of farming where they plough one field and sow in it and then rest the other. It is not a very good explanation.

Hi Kat
I can`t see why you wouldn`t be able to talk about music hall songs. Music is music.
You`re right about a lot of them being lost and forgotton. Shame.
Runrig.
I know what you meant about the fields.... field rotation. They do it so that the fields have a chance to build the nutrients back up.
(We`ll have to think of a good `ploughing fields` song now so that it fits in the music section.)
Take care Kat.
Have a great night.

Thanks Jane, I remember when I was at my late grandparents in Ashinton Northumberland seeing sheets of music/scores of musical hall acts. I remember with those sheets of music where Jazz melodies, the old fashioned Jazz, ie Sacho, Neil Armstrong etc. Grandparents used to play and sing the musical hall songs on the piano and my uncle used to play jazz melodies on the saxophone and trumpet.
Claire I hope you will have a great night. I am having a great time now.

Hi Kat
I can understand why you remember those times so fondly. Its such a shame that doesnt go on very often now. I remember when my Mum and I used to have a pub and we had a piano in there. A couple of the people who used to come in remembered all the old songs and we used to have some really great singalongs. (Young people as well as the older ones.)
The atmosphere was great.
The closest I`ve come to that since is in a local pub where the Irish gather. Fantastic.
Nothings set. People turn up with instruments and join in. Really great night.
Take care
Jane

Jane one thing I would have liked to have attended was a Ceildh. I have heard that they have not only music but story telling.
I overheard on the radio that five Star is still called five star even though it has only four members and that they are not doing very well.

Yep, the Irish are great story tellers. Fantastic. I remember when I was young and we `had` to go to family gatherings. (My Grandmother insisted on it.) Even though family members moved away, she insisted that every March 2nd (on her birthday, we had a gathering. Accordions, music, story telling.... wonderful times.
Strange mixture though. Irish and gypsy. Wonderful excuse for a knees-up.
I didn`t even know that 5-star were still going!! I`m pleased about that because I used to think they were great.
You`ll never guess what group is appearing in one of our local pubs.... Hermans Hermits!! HERMANS HERMITS for goodness sake.

Kow and Jane Yes I remember Hermans Hermits, I even can here their songs in my head. Yes they were great. Irish/Scottish Gaelic music and lanuage is very similar. I have heard of stories of when Irish/Scottish Gaelic fishermen met, they could understand each other.

Hiya Kat
They do sound alike so it doesn`t surprise me that they could understand each other. I wish I spoke the language really, but I don`t.
On one of the albums of Enya, she sings a couple of songs in Gaelic. Really good.
Kow. Yet another secret you know.
discodiva.... I didn`t know that about the manager but it doesn`t surprise me. There`s a lot of that goes on.
Catch ya later folks.
