You've been practising secretly for three years? And I thought your English was so good entirely thanks to us at h2g2!

I know, KB, but someone's got to do it... smiley - winkeye

TC, it is, of course, entirely due to you people! How could it not be?
(I just let the language group believe it's thanks to them, to make them happy... smiley - laugh)

Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~

I've seen a cellar filled to the rim with smiley - bubbly in Reims a few decades ago - and I figure once you've seen one you've seen them all, right

So instead of spending a (hopefully) nice sunny weekend in june walking around in a cellar I will check out the cafées and such smiley - cheers

BUT: If you've never been in a smiley - bubbly cellar you should definitely try it!

Just saying smiley - smiley

Put me down as a definite maybe for now. I'll do whatever I can to participate - and this year my prospects seem to be quite good smiley - smiley

But it is early days, and I don't want to jinx it and raise false hopes (in myself - and maybe even others) smiley - smiley

I'm happy to follow the crowd. It'd be nice to get at least one museum trip in, though.

What? You're accepting bribes now? Euros or Sterling?

I'm just looking forward to being out of London and in very pleasant company, what ever is planned.

For the moment, I think we're looking at (at least) one evening, and a brunch-like sort of thing (with my English-speaking group), possibly more if needed/wanted.
There are quite a lot of restaurants in the town centre (fancy or plainer, fast food or more civilised, cheap or expensive), so probably the other meals, too, together or not. smiley - drool
Quite a lot of people speak at least a bit of English, too, especially in the food and tourism sectors.

It looks like we'll have at least one museum visit, possibly splitting into several groups ; and I think the Cathedral is probably a must-see.

Ah, the light show on the Cathedral facade is back for the Summer as of today.
It's a 25-minute show with lights and music. They're playing it twice a night, from 10pm. Not sure if it's every night or only weekends, though.
But that's another thing we can do *if* the weather is nice. smiley - smiley

Sounds like fun.

I've booked my trains out, but not yet my trains back (because I haven't yet decided whether to extend my holiday in France or in the UK).

So, as posted on the other thread, here are the plans so far :

- Friday night: Restaurant? Walk around town?

- Saturday morning : brunch with my English-speaking group
- Saturday afternoon : visit of a champagne cellar, a museum,...
- Saturday night : main Meet at the Apostrophe. Possibly after watching the lightshow on the cathedral facade (if people are interested and the weather is nice)

- Sunday : Breakfast/brunch? Walk around town? Visit? Packing?

Friday night can be a restaurant, possibly following a tour of the city centre, depending on the time when everyone arrives. smiley - smiley

Any other ideas?

Right. So. One week to go. Time to book anything that needs to be.

- How many people are up for a tour of a champagne house?
- How many people are up for brunch on the Saturday morning? (and around what time?).

I'm in on all of that, Superfrenchie. Sounds good. As I arrive on Friday evening at half past five, I shall need to eat, too. I expect those of us staying at the Touring Hotel will have found each other by then. Just tell us which clock to stand under.

I'm good for both. I'm at the Ibis Reims Central, 28, boulevard Joffre.

Arrive mid-day Friday, leave 16.00 Sunday.

Good for any activities. Need to purchase 2 x Mumm champagne, or equivalent, for 25th wedding anniversary and 30th birthday event.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Only smiley - ant in the is on a tight budget. smiley - sadface
