h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

For the last two days, whenever I've tried to use the site, Pliny seems to have defaulted to some kind of 'mobile phone' interface...

The menu bar at the top of the page (Front Page, Categories, Editorial...) is one vertical column, taking up virtually the full height of the visible screen.

I'm in pliny and not seeing that here...

Which browser are you using? I'm using Chrome and Firefox on Linux.

I would suggest as a first test clearing the browser cache incase you have a broken file in there.

Cache cleared - no effect...
I'm on Windows 7 running Firefox 37.0.1

That's interesting... Just looked at Chrome to see if the problem's the same...

Can't even get past the login screen (something I never have to do with Firefox as it logs me in automatically)

On the Chrome page h2g2.com/login/portal I have a nice space for my login name, a space for a password, a tickbox for 'remember me' but no ENTER button...

I'm guessing it's a sort of browser issue - but I've passed the information to tech.

Managed to get logged in using Chrome... (after several attempts at getting a login button...

Exactly the same display... What looks like a skin designed for single column use on a mobile phone.


Looking at this page now, where I'm typing my reply, I've got the standard banner at the top of the page with the search box on the right hand side. Under that, all the menu items are stacked vertically.

Same thing at the bottom of the screen... Help, About, How to contribute, FAQs, etc are all stacked vertically, a single link to a single line.

I did have some issues too, seemed to make a difference if the URL was "edited entry" or "approved entry" but not for other pages.
No news from tech, unfortunately.
