Good point.
Maybe that's a point we should make - writing for h2g2 is not like writing for hire. It's your own work.
Others can help: advise, make suggestions, whatever. But it's *your* work. Ultimately, you decide if it's done what you wanted it to do.
The rest is kibitzing.

yay! this is a deep and useful debate, and (takes Notes), and the noohootoo is going to be such a great creative site, as if it isn't already. I think I will refer people I know to it, and also people that I don't know.
And.... Oh. Have to go. Back soon, or somewhere, with seven thousand six hundred and twenty two interesting thoughts about it all.

we need critics - on 2 accounts
1 - to guide, learn from and show where our mistakes are etc
2 - to totally ignore, as is our want
3 - to think! "what do they know that I don't"
