2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I am sure we have all heard the story, of 'how the cockroach got its name'. Of course, a perpensity for understatement, and a fear of ruining my reputation for prudance and child-like innocence, would, at this junction in procedings, prevent me from recounting it, yet again, in this place smiley - zen

(For those who are now curious, the true etymology for the cockroach's name is simply an Anglicization of the Spanish 'cucaracha'. Carry on.)

I was working out a very plausible explanation about the mating of a rooster and the butt end of a marijuana cigarette.

I think it means, "evil creature that flies at your face when you look at it crawling on the far wall".

I thought it had something to do with;

OK... who's up for writing a million and one 'how the cockroach got its name', storeys... I'm sure the post would like to run a long running 'how the cockroach got its name', semi-regular feature smiley - whistlesmiley - laugh all clean ones mind... smiley - erm which sadly seems to rule out the 'how the cockroach got its name' storey I seem to have in my head smiley - whistlesmiley - run

Quite so.
Wikipedia don't have anyone nearly half insane enough to attempt the kind of first hand, detailed, scientific and quantitive research, such as which I carried out for the infamous, and as yet un-written up as a guide entry, detailed research into the entry, titled, simply 'Food Sex'. smiley - injured
smiley - zen
I actualy managed to injur myself during some fo the highly scientific and insane research for that one... I just can't quite figure out how to make it/write it up into an entry smiley - whistlesmiley - angelsmiley - handcuffs

As ever with 2legs, I fear the answer is not what you assumed it would be.

Gnomon - time to move on

I've just read the original announcement given in the first post of this conversation. These libraries have been given permission to archive any website whose web address ends in ".uk", and to celebrate, they've chosen 100 websites, including h2g2, which they will archive.

There's a problem here. Our web address no long ends in ".uk". It did when we were with the BBC, and the list of websites was probably devised back then. But it doesn't anymore, so they will not have legal permission to archive us.
