A Conversation for H2G2 Researcher Code - Version 1.0
Local Codes

To aid the fast adoption of new codes between official releases how about adding the ability for users to define their own 'Local' code categories.
Example follows:
----BEGIN H2G2 CODE BLOCK----
Version: 1.0
RGB>$ SA B+++ TV+ r+ D A->+ P-: s>+ V E>+ PR a->+ T? nh? C+
Ldef[BB='The Beach';L='The Lighthouse'] BB+ L+++
-----END H2G2 CODE BLOCK-----
Syntax:
The ... tags at the end of the code block surround the locally defined (non-standard) codes. The Ldef[] statment defines the new codes, each one separated by a semicolon. Local codes then follow. It is suggested that any more detailled explanation of local codes is put on users personal space.

I don't have anything against local codes, but I don't think they should be condoned as an official part of the code.
There are multiple reasons:
- It makes the code uglier
- It makes the code more complicated
The whole point of the code is that it's well defined. Allowing anyone and his aunty to make personal additions makes it open to confusion. My opinion is this:
If you are one of a very large many wanting a code, arrange a petition. (And if Master B gets swamped with "We want.."-messages after this he'll know who to blame.)
If you are one of fairly many, but not enough to convince Master B, create your own fr***ing code.
If you are only one, but you really, really want your own code, make one. See below for example.
----BEGIN H2G2 CODE BLOCK----
Version: 1.0
RS SG B++(-) TV- D A P S(--) V->+ E+ PR++ a?
-----END H2G2 CODE BLOCK-----
----BEGIN ARSE CODE BLOCK----
SNO UB++ S++ BAF++ A---
-----END ARSE CODE BLOCK-----

You're probably right about this just causing complications - I was trying (proabably unsuccessfully) to take some load off Master B.
Ho hum.

Thanks for the suggestion Alex. Unfortunately, I agree with Naita (plus, of course, I'm a power-crazed lunatic ).
It's not such a huge workload - nothing like the effort that, say, Greebo puts in.
Of course, if you are going to use the tags, I'm damn well not going to come round and stop you.
