A Conversation for Talking Point: Coincidences

My birthday and my phone number

My birthday is August 17th. Every phone number I've had in the last five years - four of them, I think, and all randomly assigned - has ended in 817.

When Norway changed to a flat number plan (no area codes) our new phone number was identical to the first 8 digits of my "social security code".

Erm. I don't think I'd like that very much. It seems kind of unsafe.

Well, as long as no one else knows it's not actually unsafe. If, however, I was to inform everyone on the internet about it... wait, I just did...
However they would have to do some digging to discover which phone-number this was. And the phone company isn't allowed to keep records of previous owners of the numbers. smiley - smiley
I doubt someone dishonest would bother with it, since there are much easier ways to nab a number for identity fraud or whatever.
A less "perfect" coincidence is my license plate, which has my birthdate, only with two digits transposed.

Just Another Number

When I was growing up my phone number (not including the area code, obviously) was 421 481.

My friend's phone number was 422 480.

If you subtract 421,481 from 422,480 you get 999.

My friend's father was a policeman.

(In the UK, where I live, you dial 999 for emergencies.)

Spooky, huh?
