Hi there we have a little group of ex-lders who get together for and cozy little chats and general taking the mick out of each other..the likes of Brora, serenity, batwing and a few other regulars..and i was wondering if we could get our own
search link so that if people search for `leisure district` they will be able to come and join our group with just a click of the link..is it possible??

hi marc.....
i can see various ways to make sure that people can find where you are holding your group meeting/discussion etc...
using one of your friends or your own space and create thread there... not a bad idea but it might miss the point of having other people coming and have a chat if they don't know about it... [they are only ideas i'm throwing in here so obviously feel free to ignore them if you want...]
opening a room for you and your friends [i should say our friends as i know a few of them as well ] in the LDers bar?!.. not a bad idea if i say so myself ...
now an even more brilliant idea [according to me of course...] you could make the miscellaneous thread in the LDers' quotes section your own if you want... then when the thread gets a bit tired [it does happen after a while ] we can start a fresh one for you and then you still have a kind of continuity...
i say that because i have been lurking in the thread you've been contributing to on the LDers list page and thought it was great...
another way could be that we make a special page for you in the LDers space as a meeting place etc...
if you think this last idea would be great let us know and we could get it started for you asap... obviously we would need suggestions on how to call that space etc... [it has to be as close as possible to your group's "identity" as possible if you know what i mean ]
the good thing is that, not only you would start your own threads there, but with the usual links to the other Friends of LD's pages, this page would be bound to appear in the search facility...
and, we could also add the names of those who contribute to that special space in the researchers credits thingy which will also make that page appears on their space as well...
well they are only suggestions, but think about it and let us know if anything there could be useful...?!
i haven't had a chance to visit much the thread where you and your/friends meet but from what i've seen it is definitely a great little group...
talk soon...

I do think the last idea would be the better so that people can see
who is on there and if anyone disapears we can drop them a line
to see if they are ok sort of look after them..and any new researchers could be directed there and we could give them a nice warm reception and let them see there is nothing to be scared of on h2..i think seeing as how Brora or serenity has been on there they should have the honour of choosing a name for the new group..there is one problem i think we may come up against and that is when the postings get to around 250 it gets difficult to access the thread i wonder if there is some way that when it gets to around 250 we can delete the earlier ones??? like you i am trying to think as i type of different things..but if you could get the ball rolling on the thread and i will contact as many as i can and then wait for you to give us the nod and let us know where we go next..big thank you for for all your help....

hi marc...
just tell me what you want on it pictures etc... and i will be able to start something asap... if you want to use this thread for the details etc that would be great..
oh yes, we will need the U number of the people who contribute to it so that we can add them to the researchers credit thingy......
the problem about threads being stuck at early stages has happened with some of the FoLDers Arms threads for no reason whatsoever... the bar area threads usually go up to 2500 posts even so we're quite smileys mad at times... one way [and of course that's one of the advantages of having your special area/page in the lDers space] will be to call manda if he is online at the times that happens and through his PC he will be able to turn the stuck thread's page over and make the thread accessible again for digiboxes...
i will have a look at your thread on the LDers list page just in case...
if you give yourselves a 2100 posts limit for a thread then you can start a new thread with enough notice for everyone to know about it...
i have to go now as i want to get to the local library before it closes... but i will definitely talk with you asap... don't hesitate to post as many ideas/suggestions/whatever as possible... we're here to help... and as your group has already proved to be a great one there is definitely no problem at all...
do you want it to be a caf' or a club?!... or whatever really [apart from a bar obviously...]
a theme?!... just throwing ideas/suggestions really... you don't have to follow them...
that's a bit how the FoLDers Arms started really: some LDers mentioned the idea and we went for it...
same with the quotes section...
the great thing is as your group has already been active for a while you won't have to start from scratch...
and of course, we will be neighbours so to speak [i will pop in to say hello as much as possible for a and a chat] so any problems you will get all the support/help needed...
not sure if what i've just typed makes sense as i'm pratically on my way out...
i will look at whatever ideas posted on here as soon as i'm back online...
talk soon...

... no problem... the basic can be started through the digibox anyway so that's i don't have to wait for my next trip to the library [my budget for the cybercaf being already spent...]... and if i'm stuck or something or/and don't feel like typing long codes manda will help with his computer i'm sure []...
so yep... no problem... serenity can also ask for a coloured background if she wants... well, the sky is the limit really [in a reasonable way]...
do you still have problems accessing the original thread on the LDers list's page?!... i got in with my digibox just before going out that's why i'm asking...
anyway, talk soon....

good morning marc and loups.
loups
is there a or and shop in the the same street as the FoLDers Arms?. use your imagination heere
because all we ever do is drink and eat and occasionally the odd
so we could call it the 'LD tea shop' or 'ye olde worlde tea shoppe'
could we possibly have the LD coat of arms(a small discreet sized one) and a picture of tea and cakes. i dont know if there is one in the library, as i came here first. a welcome speech would be nice as well.
i dont know what brora thinks of this..
i too am having problems getting into our leisuredistrict thread. so i dont know how much marc has been saying about me
i will go and have a look in the library to see what suitable pretty pictures there are for us.

im back!!!!
ive had a look in the picture library and i reckon that the picture with the cup of tea and a plate of cakes(b1541053) is just what we are looking for.
i think that being called a tea shop is better than a cafe, it adds the air of respectability.. not just a greasy spoon type atmosphere. now this is where all greasy spoon anoraks have a go at me
thats my thoughts and ideas on the subject, lets wait and see what the others think.

.... any preferences for the background's colour?! [if you want a coloured background in the first place that is...]
re name: having a reference to LD could be a good idea tho' as even so the page should/will appear in the search facility for keywords like lD and LeisureDistrict [and maybe LDers] peeps who look at the list might not see the connection at first...
the image of a street etc... yep... works for me...
i will be back later anyway...
before i go... will you want a welcoming message on the page?!... it doesn't have to be long []...
feel free to ask for whatever you think could be done/used/etc [and i say you as in a collective you BTW]...
back soon...

I for one think the LD tea shop or tea bar (T-bar) is a good name for it anyone searching for LD could find that..the pictures seem ok but we still have one problem and that is getting the staff to make the tea and cakes etc..and we could have Jintys as a speciality bit like bettys hot pot on coronation st...maybe we could have a corner
where ex-lders could contribute their own favourite recipes then people could bake them at home and actualy taste for themselves what we serve in the shop/T-bar??? what do you think ??

i'm still around but under the LDers space account...
so do we go with:
LD T-Bar
LD's Tea Bar
i don't mind changing whatever needs changing later on... no problem...

foundations built...
now we can start the other important bits: what else do you want added?!
got the message about the LDers badge... will see if it can be done a less imposing way [perhaps horizontal instead of vertical.... working on it anyway...] that will help get into the search thingy for LeasureDistrict and the one for digibox...
i will be popping back as often as possible so that things can get ready asap...
back soon...

Hi loup..i think Helens suggestion was `LD tea shop` so i think we should go with that..did Helen do the ground breaking ceremony? Jinty should be nipping in soon to have a look how things are going.. what does everyone thing of the idea of having a corner where people can leave recipes so that people can try them at home???..
POINTER
Loup Dargent Posted Apr 6, 2003
manda...
might need help with the LDers badge being horizontal instead of vertical which then would make it not so high and would fit neatly at the bottom of the page...
err... i hope that i haven't forgotten anyone in the researchers credits... don't hesitate to tell us if i have... that can be rectified very easily...
a recipes corner?!... sounds good... do you want it as a clickable frame to be linked to a designated thread?!... would make life easier as that could also become a collective entry with all the recipes [again the researchers having contributed to it would have their names added to the finished product...]...
just a thought...
if you want to have a pre-opening party don't hesitate either... as long as you're wearing hard hats just in case...
talk soon everyone...
loup
ps: manda... horizontal LDers badge?!
