Whilst on Tenerife, you must MUST rent a car and drive round the island...the change between the coastal strip and the highland is incredible. The scenery up there is completely different and has to be seen to be believed.
You MUST (whilst up there) climb to the top of the Teide volcano...don't worry, it's quiet,(and a cable-car goes up most of the way).
WARNING : DO NOT SIT DOWN at the top.
Whilst on holiday with girlfriend from Cadiz, we climbed up and sat down, took in the amazing view for 20min. Started on the way down and girlfriend notices that i have small hole in seat of trousers. By the time we get back to the cable-car, i have lost the entire seat of my new jeans and am forced to stand with my back to the wall.
At the Pico of the Teide, there are some extremely corrosive emissions coming out of the rock, so BEWARE!!
hope you have a great time...

Cheers alec
We don't really have an intinery of what we are going to do whilst we are there. Chilling out and forgetting about work seems to be the number one theme of the holiday at the moment. But hey, if you've got a volcano just up the road, you really ought to go check it out
Oh, and have fun with the quiz whilst we are away. There will be plenty there to keep you all busy. And it isn't too Anglocentric either

Enjoy the holiday both of you - and try to think up some harder questions - avoiding English football and road numbers which are my strengths

The sad thing about Europe now using the Euro is that national landmarks no longer feature on paper money.
Up in the highlands on Tenerife, not far from the Pico, is a rock formation, instantly recognisable and unique to the island, that used to feature on Spains 1000 peseta note...

Well I know Tenerife *is* a volcanic island, and as such has at some point in time moved, as it were.
However I would rather it didn't move whilst I was there. And also moving the *whole* island would be rather a lot for one volcano, even if it is a really big one

but you could go down in history as the first grey desk ever to be blown into tiny pieces by an exploding volcano
