Well, the egg and silver is still b*****ks, and the raw meat is in fact just a version of the ice pack since most people will have their meat stored somewhere cold.

I don't know much about using meat, because I haven't tried it before, but I can say for myself that the egg seems to work... *see last peer review conversation*
The bit about meat isn't with the bit about the ice because i'm not really sure that cold meat will freeze out your eye...

Ice in a tea towel won't freeze your eye out either. You'll suffer unbearable pain in your eyelid before that happens. And if the egg works I would expect any other warm object wrapped in a tea towel to work as well. There are no toxins to be drawn out of a bruise, even if an egg had that capability.

And for the prize for smarty-pants postings...
The best way to prevent a black eye is to avoid being punched in the first place.
Perhaps a bit on causes of a black eye would be nice.
I know a lot of people who break/have broken their noses get black eyes, yet I didn't. But I do think that something of causes of black eyes might be nice.

Hi there,
"The theory behind this is that the ice cools down the blood vessels, therefore slowing the rate of blood flow, which stops the black eye swelling too much"
I think it may be worth saying something like ...'The action of applying ice to the bruised area causes the blood vessels to constrict, reducing the amount of blood supplied to the area and so minimising the likelihood of further bruising occuring'... or something like that, ( you may even be able to find an edited entry already about blood vessels that you could to, which would supply further info on the subject ) and also commenting on frozen food - such as peas - are just as good as ice itself. I would also add a note in to reinforce the fact that the ice or frozen products MUST be wrapped in a towel to avoid damaging/burning the skin, but i like the way you said not to put it on the eyeball itself!!
But dont worry, you are doing ok, ask anyone that has submitted an entry for review and they will tell you they end up re-writing it several times! but dont be put off by it

actually just did a quick search on edited entries on 'blood vessels' and MINA submitted one on general bruising A765713. It could be useful to link to (have a read and see what you think)
There are more articles that may be worth looking at but since I came into Peer Review for a reason (which i have now forgotten !) i better go. and besides its your article!!

I take it you are still working on this entry? It has been done before, but you could post a thread at <./>askh2g2</.> and be flooded with ideas from researchers. And so long as you add them as contributing, you could end up with quite an informative range of cures/aids!

Hmmm... Good idea, apart from I might not get much time to type/copy it out... This computer that i'm on, likes crashing at the totally wrong moment, and my sisters computer... well... let's just say my pet turtle moves faster...
But anyhoo, I'll give it a go...

Do you think you'll be able to get around to it sometime in the near abouts?
Otherwise, you might consider pulling it out of Peer Review and either 1) waiting and resubmitting it when you've had some time to work on it, or 2) submitting it to the Writing Workshop, where perhaps some other people will help you work on it (or at least gently prod you along some).

In that case, i'll probably put it in the writing workshop, and hopefully other people can offer some ideas and stuff...

If Justin can't move it himself, might I suggest we get a friendly italic-type person to move it for him?
