A Conversation for The Temple of Existentialism
Is there such thing as a purely good action, or a purely evil one?

He also has a nose the size of Alaska [Chad that is]
I like an eclectic mix ranging from Santana [Abraxas is the best!] to the more modern, inc. REM, Muse, RHCP, One Giant Leap and more, but the album I'm listening to at the mo, is 'The very best of MTV Unplugged', which has quite a few older ones too.
What music do you like Noggin?

*Bears non-friendly teeth as a certain rock star isn't here to defend himself*
BDB, Muse, RHCP, and REM are all cool. And I love "Mrs Robinson".

Well, I'm big on the 60s/70s (it's my age); Beatles, Pink Floyd, Clapton, Steeleye Span, Bowie, Jarre, Hawkwind, Roy Harper, Fleetwood Mac (as in Peter Green), Grateful Dead. The list is endless.

And the Incredible String Band. You don't get that totally unrehearsed, we just met five minutes go sound without a LOT of practice.

There are acts. You can apply a label to any act, labelling it 'Good', 'Bad', 'Not so good', 'Not so bad'. My labels won't always match with yours and I think it's hopeless to try and agree on a universal label because we'll always see things from different angles. So what are we left with? You're asking "Is there such a thing as an act I can label purely good or purely evil"? Sure there is, but don't expect anyone else to agree. Why should you want to anyway? The only undeniable thing is the act itself and that remains regardless of whatever label you put on it.
Labels shmabels.

Sorry, thought this was a serious thread. For what it's worth I was always a GnR fan myself.

It is a serious thread....it's just Driftwood floating across the water...
i.e. we've drifted!! I like Eric Clapton and P. Floyd too I also like Alanis Morrissette, Stinkin, I mean 'Linkin Park', into a bit of Nirvana. I like some of the modern collections with old songs on it: like 'the greatest rock stars ever', or some silly title...
On the subject once again! I disagree 8bit, because if those labels don't 'exist' objectively, then we all may as well descend into chaos and anarchy...chaos and anarchy I tells ye!

I'd love to carry on with the proper conversation in this thread but it takes too much thinking so I'll just carry on with the other one.
The Beatles and Bowie are great. Actually, seeing as theiy're trying to recruit new listeners at the moment: Lots of the artists Virgin radio plays. I Geoff!

we can have more than one conversation going on at the same time: this can be the sixth form common room of the temple!

In my young day some people considered playing rock music to be a purely evil act. Which is why I have horns coming out of my head. (well, my helmet anyway)
