And so we move on to the next week of the competition.
This week, for the first week this season, I am thinking of awarding a bonus point for the first person to tell me what the link between these matches is - note: you'll have to be very specific to get the point, and you must post your idea at the same time as your selections for it to count.
Sheffield Wednesday v Preston
Coventry v Leeds
Doncaster v Nottingham Forest
Arsenal v Charlton
Millwall v Leicester
All predictions to be in by lunchtime on Saturday, 18th March.

Here's mine.
I'm still thinking about the link
Sheffield Wednesday 0 v 1 Preston ~ Nugent
Coventry 2 v 1 Leeds ~ McSheffrey
Doncaster 2 v 1 Nottingham Forest ~ Heffernan
Arsenal 2 v 0 Charlton ~ Henry
Millwall 0 v 0 Leicester

Mu Beta Posted Mar 15, 2006
Sheffield Wednesday 1-3 Preston (Agyemang)
Coventry 1-1 Leeds (Adebola)
Doncaster 0-1 Nottingham Forest (Tyson)
Arsenal 2-2 Charlton (Henry)
Millwall 0-0 Leicester
I think the link is that they have all played somewhere 'up'. Sheffield Wednesday used to have a ground called Highfield, Coventry played at Highfield Road, Arsenal at Highbury, and Millwall at North Greenwich. Somehow Doncaster's ludicrously named Earth Stadium must fit that bill too.

That, B, is highly imaginative and puts you in pole position for the badge for the most entertaining selection or posting made during the season
It's utterly wrong, obviously. But it's very very good. Thank you

Sheffield Wednesday v Preston 0-1 (Nugent)
Coventry v Leeds 2-1 (McSheffrey)
Doncaster v Nottingham Forest 1-1 (Heffernan)
Arsenal v Charlton 2-0 (Henry)
Millwall v Leicester 1-2 (Hume)
And the connection - well not a clue really but in a blatant steal/modfication from Master B's idea I'm going to go with an Areas of Land of various types connection
Preston play at DeepDALE
Sheffiled Wednesday play at HILLsborough
Coventry used to play at HighFIELD road
Leeds play at ElLAND road
Notts Forest play at the City GROUND
Charlton play at the VALLEY
Doncaster play at the EARTH stadium (or Belle Vue GROUND)
this is where it starts getting all contrived and desperate
Millwall play at the New DEN (I suppose badgers have these as their land)
Arsenal will soon be playing in an EMIRATEs stadium (yes poor I know)
and most desperate of all
Leicester used to play at Filbert STREET

Ah, spot on with my research again
Personally I'm going for a miraculous recovery
I dunno, when I check out injury lists and suspension and follow what they say, the players in question get bloody picked and score

I also think DD is correct but my own guess is that they have all the away teams have been paymasters for Steve Claridge at one time or another!!

Sheffield Wednesday, a steel works team?
Blimey! That's going to come as a bit of a shock to the descendants of the members of the Wednesday Cricket Club. I mean these people have labouring all these years under the misapprehension that their ancestors, for a bit of variety in their lives, set up an accompanying football club to give this new 'Association Football' malarky a bit of a go. I'm sure that in the end, once the surprise wears off, that they will be delighted that Demon Drawer has set the record straight for them.
